Golf fans have lauded Paulina Gretzky for her influence on Dustin Johnson off the course after the LIV Golf star celebrated his 40th birthday with a themed party.

Johnson celebrated the milestone with a cowboy-themed party, complete with drinking games, live music, fireworks and a massive birthday cake. The party took place at a stunning house and saw Johnson, his wife and their two sons arrive in style in one of the golf star's classic convertible cars. The golfer, who is a two-time major winner, fully embraced the theme, donning a cowboy outfit for the occasion.

Paulina, the eldest daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, shared footage from the night on social media. In her latest Instagram post, she captioned a series of photos: "country roads take me home".

Fans were quick to comment on the posts, praising the close-knit family and Johnson's fun-loving attitude. One fan wrote: "I like Dustin because he has that 'I don't give a s*** attitude but is a good dude."

The couple tied the knot in April 2022, after a long engagement that began in August 2013. They first became parents with the arrival of their son Tatum in January 2015, followed by their second boy River in June 2017.

The pair hit a rough patch in 2018 when Gretzky wiped Johnson's presence from her Instagram, fuelling breakup speculations. But the air cleared when Gretzky shared a romantic Ryder Cup kiss with Johnson on her account.

After being honoured as the PGA Tour Player of the Year for 2019/20, Johnson opened up to Golfweek about the joys of fatherhood. "The best thing in the world is having kids. We're lucky to have two wonderful boys. It's really been amazing, watching them grow up and enjoying the time. They get to travel with us a bunch," he shared.

Johnson sees bits of himself and Paulina in their sons, often catching glimpses of his own traits in them. "I can see a little of me and Paulina in both of them, just in their personalities and the things they do. It's funny. There are times when you watch them and say, 'Where in the heck did you learn that? ' and then you realize, oh man, it's from me."

Fatherhood has reshaped Johnson's priorities, as he admits: "For me, golf was always the most important thing. And now, it's Paulina and the kids and they'll always be the most important. Obviously, I love the game of golf, competing and playing. But they're the most important thing."
