Lewis Hamilton incurred the wrath of Lance Stroll who swore at the Mercedes star during final practice in Barcelona.

Both drivers have been summoned to see the Formula 1 stewards after the incident which took place in practice on Saturday. Stroll was on a flying lap in his Aston Martin when he came across the slow-moving Mercedes on track which got in his way.

Hamilton turned into the corner close to the racing line and had to jolt to the right after spotting Stroll approaching. But the damage had been done and the Canadian had to squeeze the brakes and back out of the lap.

"I didn't see him, my bad," said Hamilton over the radio. Clearly, though, Stroll needed more than that to calm down as he appeared to purposely bump the Mercedes in retaliation before taking to the radio to vent his frustration.

He shouted: "This f***ing guy thinks he's alone on the track!" The incident will be investigated ahead of qualifying by the stewards who will decide what an appropriate punishment will be.

It was not the only incident of road rage that happened in that session. In the last few seconds, Charles Leclerc appeared to drive into Lando Norris on purpose, again feeling aggrieved that the McLaren driver had got in his way.

The Ferrari driver swore over the radio in anger while Norris also took to the airwaves to react to the incident, after throwing his hands up into the air. He said: "[Leclerc just drove into me! I think I've got damage." Leclerc and Norris have both also been called to the stewards' offices to explain themselves before qualifying.

Those incidents livened up what was otherwise a fairly pedestrian final practice session. Carlos Sainz finished it at the top of the timesheets with Norris and Leclerc behind him - despite the Spaniard also having to back out of his final run after coming across the slow-moving cars of Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri on track.

Verstappen was fourth quickest as Red Bull failed to top the timesheets in any of the three practice sessions held, despite their rivals tipping them to get back to their best on this circuit. Mercedes duo George Russell and Hamilton put in the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively.

Stroll, who had to back out of that lap on which he was impeded by Hamilton, could only go 17th fastest. And team-mate Fernando Alonso, the home hero this weekend alongside Sainz, was ninth.
