Footage has resurfaced of Bukayo Saka impressing at left-back for Arsenal after both Ian Wright and Gary Neville suggested he should play there for England at Euro 2024.

Saka has started all three of England's group games on the right-wing, but Wright and Neville have suggested a move to left-back could be beneficial as he is left-footed and Gareth Southgate is currently playing the right-footed Kieran Trippier there with Luke Shaw still injured.

"As great as Saka has done for England in terms of what he creates and his goals and assists, he is a natural left-sided player," Wright said on ITV. "He started playing for England on the left at youth level, he started at Arsenal on the left.

"If that's going to give you the balance and get you Cole Palmer in the team, it's something you have to at least look at. Yes, Kyle Walker can play there [at left-back], it's the same situation where you have the player coming inside, you have no one going around.

"He's a natural left-footer Saka, we could activate the whole left side." And Neville agreed with Wright's suggestion, adding that he would like to see Saka at left-back and Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

"I think that it would be brilliant to see Bukayo Saka at left-back but I think Gareth Southgate won't do that," Neville said on ITV. "What you may get him to do is put Kyle Walker as left-back and put Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right who is a brilliant user of the ball on the right-hand side.

"Having Kieran Tripper and Walker on either side means we're blocking a little bit both sides and I think having Trent on one side is the best we're going to get." Following Wright and Neville's comments, footage has resurfaced of Saka starring on the left for Arsenal's youth team.

The 22-year-old also featured there when he broke into Arsenal's first-team in 2018, making 21 appearances for the Gunners at left-back. Rio Ferdinand has also suggested Southgate should play Saka at left-back, having called for him to make the change ahead of England's 1-1 draw with Denmark.

"If Shaw's not fit then 100 per cent, we're bang in trouble," Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five podcast. "We would have to put Saka at left-back. I'd play Saka at left-back then I would. If you ain't got Shaw and you ain't got Trippier then I would play Saka at left-back. I'd play it where as soon as we get possession Saka is a left winger."
