James Anderson has fired an early Ashes warning by insisting the Aussies won’t be able to cope with Bazball this summer.
Four weeks out from the oldest grudge match in the game the most experienced cricketer on either side reckons there will be fireworks as the Aussies try to hit back with their own attacking brand of cricket.
But such is the confidence in the method instilled by Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum's Test match revolution, the 40-year-old Lancastrian reckons that no side, not even World Test Championship finalists Australia, will be able to handle England at their very best.
“The Aussies are naturally extremely competitive and aggressive when they play,” said Anderson. “They’ll have discussed it and have their own plans and own ways of how they are going to cope with it.
"I just think if we do what we’ve been doing and play as well as we possibly can, I don’t think anyone in the world can cope with it.
“It is exciting seeing how different teams react and how things work against different teams.
“Because I’m sure we’ll have to do something slightly differently against Australia because they might have different plays and whatever else, but we’ve coped with everything that’s been thrown at us so far.
“The dressing room is fairly relaxed, we’re trying to enjoy ourselves, we’re trying to entertain people, take the positive option.
“If you look at our team, if we play to the best of our ability with that mindset, I don’t think anyone can cope with us. So I think we can win.”
