This is the chilling moment a 16-year-old teen shoots and allegedly kills an innocent dog walker after she was caught in the middle of a gang fight.

Kevin Perez-Stubbs, from Las Vegas, was arrested in May last year when he was 15 after he was seen hanging out of a car window before firing a fatal shot at 43-year-old Shawna McCowan who was struck in the back and neck by a bullet.

She quickly ran from the scene as police recovered multiple bullets from the area but tragically died from her injuries. The dog walker was caught in the middle of an earlier fight between two teenagers at an apartment complex after one teen had accused another of stealing his gun, which was later recovered near the flats.

According to police, the CCTV shows the car gradually slowing down before Perez-Stubbs leans out of the car and starts firing. Three other teens were with the suspect at the time of the shooting including his older brother, 20-year-old Johnathan.

Tyshean Tillman, 19, was driving the vehicle, while 17-year-old Mezarius Finch was also in the car.

The teen faces counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder after he appeared in grainy CCTV footage following the alleged shooting. After the attack, prosecutors say he searched for news articles about the woman's death.

Despite being teens, the minors were certified as adults due to the seriousness of the crime. The three other teens have taken plea deals, with Perez-Stubbs to go on trial.

If a jury convicts the teen, a judge will be required to provide parole eligibility in his sentence due to his age, according to Nevada law.

McCowan split her time between Colorado where she worked as a teacher and Las Vegas, where she worked for United Airlines She was visiting friends at the time of the shooting, according to her sister Autumn.

A GoFundMe set up by the family has so far raised over £5,000 to help her son and husband who are based in Colorado.

"Losing a loved one is never easy but the added layer of losing one out of state is something I wouldn't wish for any family to navigate during a time of grieving," Autumn wrote.

Ashley Ozark, who shared a room with McCowan during United Airlines training, described the mum as "selfless." "She would fight tooth and nail for anyone she cared about," Ozark said.

"She was so full of life and the world is a darker without her. I am so sorry to her loved ones for the loss of such sweet and fiery soul."
