A disgusted Lostprophets fan was shocked after receiving a tweet from the account of jailed paedophile Ian Watkins .

Laim McKenzie was "huge" supporter of the band’s frontman before he was jailed for 35 years in December 2013 for a string of sick offences including the attempted rape of a baby.

It is unknown whether the account was hacked or whether the singer is behind the tweets - with rumours he is planning to release new music next year.

Laim McKenzie was mentioned in a tweet from the account of Lost Prophets paedophile Ian Watkins

The software developer was stunned when the account became active almost three years after he was jailed – and namedropped him.

It has been silent since December 2012 when he was arrested, but was recently reactivated and used to promote new tunes.

“I was pretty confused,” Laim said, after receiving a notification at work.

“I was a huge fan of Lostprophets when they were a band and I had followed the whole case, so I knew he was in prison.”

It was reported how three tweets had been sent from the account - with one even suggesting Watkins will release new material in 2017.

One tweet contained a link to Laim’s SoundCloud page with the words: “Favorited SIKH BEAT BRUH by @MEGALELZ.”

“Megalelz” is the user name Laim has on Twitter and SoundCloud.

Paedophile singer Ian Watkins official Twitter account is being used to promote new music - even though he is serving 35 years behind bars.

One of the tweets said “New! SEQUENCE INITIATED”.

It included a link to the SoundCloud account of L’AmourLaMorgue.

This is believed to be a DJ side project Watkins, 39, was involved in before he was jailed.

After Watkins was jailed, Laim from Paisley, Renfrewshire, in Scotland, said he wrote to Watkins in 2014 “for a few weeks”.

He said he was baffled as to why he was mentioned in the tweets but said: “I sent him letters a few years ago, so he might’ve known my user name from that.

“I sign everything off with it. Other than that, I have no idea.”

He said the response he got from people after being mentioned in the tweet was one of “confusion.”

He said: “I only saw the tweets of people I followed, it was horrid.”

It was reported last year that Watkins had been moved from a Category A prison to a ‘soft’ jail full of sex offenders.

Watkins changed his plea moments before his trial was due to start and admitted 13 child sex offences

The singer was originally sent to HMP Wakefield, called “Monster Mansion” because of the murderers it houses, including April Jones’ paedophile killer Mark Bridger.

Watkins was then moved to HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire which houses Soham child killer Ian Huntley.

Watkins had originally denied any wrongdoing over his crimes - claiming he had been “framed” by jealous groupies.

However, he changed his plea just moments before his trial was due to start and admitted 13 child sex offences.

Cardiff Crown Court judge Mr Justice Royce handed the shamed rocker a 29-year prison term - with a further six years on licence.

Watkins later launched an appeal against the length of his sentence, but it was dismissed by a panel of judges.
