A new royal documentary has examined how The Princess of Wales understands that "tradition and modernity can go hand in hand" as it looks at how her approach to royal duties has shifted over time.

The recent Channel 5 programme 'Kate: A Queen for the Future' delves into how her royal persona has evolved over time, highlighting her willingness to "get stuck in" and "look a bit silly" during engagements.

In the 13 years since she married into the Royal Family, Kate has truly blossomed into a favourite among royal fans and has become a pivotal figure for the monarchy's future.

Renowned for her playful antics during public outings - whether it's running around with children or taking part in any sporting activities - Kate's charm is undeniable.

Journalist Afua Hagan praised Kate's ability to balance tradition with a modern touch in a documentary, saying: "She is clearly the type of person that understands tradition and modernity can go hand in hand. She's very likeable. She's very charming. She's also very sporty."

Recalling a 2022 event in Cambridgeshire where the princess gamely tried to score a goal in high wedge heels, Afua noted: "She isn't afraid to get stuck in. She doesn't mind if she looks a bit silly. She doesn't mind if perhaps she doesn't do things perfectly."

Afua highlighted Kate's belief in the importance of sports for mental and physical well-being, stating: "I think she feels that sport has a big role to play in everybody's lives, in keeping everybody mentally active and physically active, too."

Moreover, Afua emphasized how Kate's warm and kind nature has made a significant impact on children worldwide.

Afua concluded with admiration for Kate's rapport with youngsters: "What really, really struck me, is how much time [she] especially took when she was talking to the kids. That's a very special quality to have to be able to get down to kids level, have a chat with them, connect and bond with them."

Royal editor Robert Jobson then added: "If she's not the heartbeat of the family, I don't know who is."

The Princess' love for sports is well known - as she serves as patron for many sporting clubs, including the Rugby Football League and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

During a previous engagement, Kate was asked by one of the members of the England wheelchair rugby league team whether she goes to the gym, the royal said: "It’s running around after the children, I do it all.

"Whenever I can squeeze in exercise I do, even jumping on the trampoline with my children before school," before adding: "We’re always slightly competitive with each other. They all love sport and Louis is mad about rugby. They are at an age where they just love running around."
