Millions of Tesco customers can get free Clubcard points worth up to £50 through an easy move that involves their energy supplier.

The offer is for 2,500 Clubcard points and this is available to new and existing OVO Energy customers if they link their accounts online. These Clubcard points are technically worth £25 to spend at the supermarket, but there is a trick to double their value to £50 if you redeem them with a Tesco “Reward Partner”.

There are over 100 reward partners to choose from, including Cineworld, Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Zizzi. To qualify for the OVO offer, customers must pay by Direct Debit and have a smart meter installed.

Lizzie Reynolds, Tesco Group membership and loyalty director, said: "Clubcard unlocks the best value at Tesco and we are always looking for new ways to bring even more benefits to the 22million UK households that have a Clubcard. Thanks to our new partnership with OVO, many Clubcard holders can now unlock 2,500 extra Clubcard points, giving money off their shopping or to double in value with more than 100 Clubcard reward partners."

Mat Moakes, Chief Commercial Officer at OVO, said: "We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to reward our customers for joining us on our mission towards a greener future, which is why we are thrilled this offer is open to new customers as well. The cost of living remains a key challenge for households and our partnership with Tesco is one of the many ways in which we are giving back to our customers with rewards that they can spend how they choose. It couldn't be a better time to join OVO and benefit from this partnership and our new rewards programme, OVO Beyond."

Today's announcement follows the launch of OVO Beyond loyalty programme, which allows customers to get up to £1,500 of savings and discounts on selected partner products and services. OVO customers can also bank free miles and bill credit to be redeemed in the future when they switch to an electric vehicle, install solar panels and more.
