Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com team has revealed how to get free Lego this weekend.

To celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4, over 100 Smyths stores will be giving away free Lego Star Wars mini figures of Yoda and the X-Wing starfighter. The giveaway will commence when stores open at 9am - but as this is expected to be popular, and only while stocks last, MSE warns you may need to get there early if you don’t want to miss out.

You don’t need to make any purchases to get the free Lego. Smyths is also giving away a free Lego Star Wars TIE Interceptor mini polybag. Writing in the latest MSE newsletter, the team said: “This offer is first come, first served – so once they're gone, they're gone. You can't book a place, so go early (and be prepared to queue!).”

You can also build your own Lego Darth Vader and Princess Leia Lego figures at 19 Lego stores this weekend. Again, this is first-come, first-served and will take place on Saturday, May 4, between 10am to 12pm or Sunday, May 5, from 12pm to 2pm. MSE said: "We reckon this will be popular, so it's best to get there earlier in the day."

In more updates from MSE, the team urged drivers to check if they could join a legal claim ahead of an upcoming deadline. The MSE newsletter explained that if you were a registered owner of a diesel car or van between 2009 and 2020 - whether you owned the car outright or bought on finance - you could join the claims. The MSE newsletter said: "BMW or Ford diesel driver? Decide now whether to join emissions lawsuits. Firms have set May deadlines for new claims against these brands."
