Asda has recalled a batch of its own-brand crisps over fears they could spark allergic reactions.

The supermarket has pulled its Asda Extra Special Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps because some packs contain Cheese & Onion Crisps. This means they could post a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

Symptoms of milk intolerance include raised itchy skin, swelling of the face, vomiting or diarrhoea. The packs of crisps that are included in the recall have a best before date of September 21, 2024 - all other dates are safe to eat. A note on the Food Standards Agency (FCA) website reads: "Asda is recalling the above product from customers.

"The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product." If you have bought this product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk, you should not eat this product - instead, return it to your nearest Asda store for a refund.

You won't need to show your receipt. For more information, you can contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101. Sainsbury's has also just recalled a range of its crisps as they could cause people to become unwell. The supermarket chain is pulling its Taste the Difference Sea Salt and Suffolk Cider Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps because they may contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label.

This poses a risk to people who have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. If you are intolerant and consume it, then you could experience symptoms such as hives, stomach upset, vomiting, and bloody stools.
