A teacher has gone viral online after she stood up to cruel bullies who relentlessly tormented a fellow student over her weight until she switched schools.

The woman, who posts online as @nouryoncee, is known for posting content about her career in the US. While many of her videos show the more fun-loving side of the job, she had to sit down her seventh-grade class for a serious conversation about bullying, which has since gone viral online.

In a video, which gained more than 2.8million likes, the teacher "put her foot down" after a girl was "so badly bullied" over her weight that she left the school. The speech came after the child had been cruelly laughed out of the classroom by her peers.

The teacher said in the clip: "You can't change overnight. You cannot change being fat or obese or ugly overnight. But you know what you can change overnight? Being a nasty person. Being disrespectful. Being a bully, making fun of somebody.

"Y'all have zero reasons to attack her but you go and call her fat every day. You can change not liking each other, but she can't go home and go to sleep and wake up skinny. It's not going to work. That doesn't work. I'm tired of it.

"Y'all are in seventh grade. There's seventh graders, sixth graders, and even elementary students. They go home and they end it. Because if kids like you stop making fun of someone's weight, it's not funny. It's not cute to the point it hurts me as a fat person because I'm fat too.

"It hurts me to see her can't even come into the room because y'all are so nasty to her. This is considered bullying. I got kids in every period drawing her on my board, and then I got this class saying that she's sitting on people and killing them. That's rude."

She went on and asked students if they would be able to live with themselves if the student they were picking on "disappeared" and told others she could relate to how the little girl felt being bullied at school. At the end of the clip, she asked the kids whether she had made herself clear, which was met by a mumbled "yes".

TikTok users have since taken to the comments to praise the teacher for how she handled the situation. One user said: "Damn, they NEEDED to hear that."

Another added: "Thank you so much. From a girl that was this heavily bullied.," while someone else penned: "This would’ve CHANGED my life as a kid I love this." Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "The silence says a lot, they’re all ashamed."
