Every motorist dreads the moment their car throws a tantrum and refuses to start.

It might be an exhaust hiccup or some other pesky issue, but usually, you'd call your local mechanic first. And often you're then slapped with a hefty bill. But now it turns out you can dodge that expense.

A savvy TikTok user shared a nifty trick which could get you back on the road without spending a penny. The issue often occurs when your car doesn't start. TikTok's @master_driver666, with a whopping 710,000 followers, kicks off her viral video with: "Come here, look at this car. Let's try to start it, it failed to start, I'll try again. The water temperature is normal but it just won't start!"

She then suggests that sometimes a car won't start because it's overheated. She continued: "Generally speaking if this problem occurs, it means the part is broken. It is called a water temperature sensor, its function is to control the amount of fuel injection to the temperature of the engine, and if something goes wrong, the car will become like this."

However, she points out the water temperature sensor was recently replaced. She added: "Many repair shops ignore this part, if it breaks down, this problem will also occur. Look right here, it's called the intake air temperature sensor.

"Let's dismantle it first and check it out. The removal method is very simple, no tools are needed just your hands."

After removing the sensor, she found it was covered in muck. Explaining her findings she said: "The dirt has covered the sensor, no wonder the car won't start. The solution is simple, find a bottle of cleaning agent, clean the sludge off it. After we clean it, we instal it back to its original position."

Once everything was put back together, the car started without any more issues. Her instructional video gathered over 7,100 likes and numerous comments of appreciation.

A viewer said: "Beautiful mechanic," another one added: "Thank you for all your car repair videos. Keep up the great work!" While a third called her a "good teacher".
