Weeds are the bane of most gardeners' lives - but it doesn't have to be that way.

With the weather finally warming up, many Brits are putting their green gloves on and getting back into the garden - desperate to salvage the mess caused by the UK's miserable, rainy winter. If your patio slabs are now smothered in unwanted weeds that can seemingly survive any climate - even snow - do not worry.

One pro has proven you don't need fancy weed killers or chemical-laced products to get rid of the unsightly plants. In fact, all you need for this 'brilliant' hack is some water...

Taking to TikTok, home expert Carolina McCauley showed how she 'eradicate weeds' without the need for 'nasty chemicals'. "Ditch the chemicals: boiling water's got this! Did you know about this hack or have you tried it before?" she captioned the post.

McCauley simply boils a kettle full of water and pours the hot liquid directly onto any pesky weeds growing in your garden or patio. She then showed how the weeds had shrivelled up and died a few hours after trying the hack.

Hundreds of users flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack, garnering differing opinions. "This does work. I have been doing it for years," one person raved. Another agreed, commenting: "It works 100 per cent." A third added: "Will definitely use this method." While a fourth penned: "Brilliant idea!"

However, many users argued the method would not kill the weeds at the root, meaning they would just grow back in a few weeks. "Mix salt into the water too," one user suggested. Another agreed, adding: "Salt water is easier and better." While a third said: "White vinegar works really well but eradicates everything."

If you don't have any in your kitchen cupboards, you can easily pick it up on your next trip to the supermarket. For example, a 750g tub of table salt costs just 65p from Asda. A bottle of white vinegar from Tesco will only set you back 35p. Alternatively you can pick a 750g tub of table salt for £1.70, and a 5l bottle of white vinegar for £2.99 on Amazon.
