Fortnite Reload will be launching on Saturday, in what is essentially a reboot of Fortnite OG. And the good news doesn't stop there, because you won't have to wait long to play it. Here's when you can play Fortnite Reload.

Not content with confirming a surprise Fortnite update, which drops on a Saturday of all days, Epic Games has also casually just confirmed that a new game mode called Fortnite Reload will be launching on the same day in what is, for all intents and purposes, the spiritual return of Fortnite OG. We can't be too surprised I suppose, as Epic did say Fortnite OG would return in 2024 last year, but shadow-dropping it less than 24 hours before its arrival has certainly got the community hyped.

Fortnite Reload will be a separate game mode within Fortnite and will work similarly to how Resurgence works in Call of Duty's battle royale title Warzone, in that as long as one of your squad is alive, your squad can respawn without having to be rebooted at a reboot van (via iFireMonkey on Twitter). It's a mini battle royale experience, with the map featuring several iconic POIs from Fortnite Chapter 1 including Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, Lil' Loot Lake, Lazy Labs, Sandy Sheets and Retail Row.

We don't know much more about it at this stage, apart from the teaser trailer Epic posted on Twitter, but what we do know is when it will be launching.

Fortnite Reload release time

The Fortnite Reload release time will be around 10am BST / 5am EDT / 2am PDT on Saturday, June 22 as this is when Fortnite server downtime will end for the rollout of Fortnite update 30.20. The release time will be the same no matter if you're on PC, Xbox or PlayStation because Fortnite server downtime typically starts and ends at the same time on all platforms.

The Fortnite server downtime will begin at 6am BST / 1am EDT on Saturday, June 22 and 10pm PDT on Friday, June 21 as confirmed by Epic's Twitter post, and because the servers typically go down for around four hours before a major update rolls out, we would expect players will be able to start playing Fortnite Reload as soon as the servers come back online. As this Fortnite update will be introducing a brand new game mode, it could be a particularly large one, so keep refreshing the Epic Games Launcher on your PC and checking your update status on your console to make sure you download the update as quickly as possible.
