What John Krasinski really said to Emily Blunt in viral 'divorce' clip at Golden Globes

John Krasinski's fans were left stunned after thinking he'd announced his desire for a divorce at The Golden Globe Awards.

In what appeared to be a tense run-in with wife Emily Blunt, wannabe lip readers thought The Office actor ended his marriage in front of snappers on the red carpet. A clip went viral as the pair shared an intimate conversation while waiting for pictures.

But it turns out he wasn't saying anything of the sort as a professional lip reader tells The Mirror exactly what John and Emily were discussing on Sunday. Jeremy Freeman tells us the pair weren't even talking about their relationship, giving us the rundown.

" _ _ waiting don’t they," Emma said, per Jeremy. John is thought to have replied: "They keep waiting for us." John then says: "Thats alright." As Emma replies: "Come with me." Fans had previously thought John was saying that he "can't wait for divorce".

The loved-up pair tied the knot back in 2010 and share daughters Hazel, nine, and Violet, seven. But followers thought something might be up after watching a video shared by CBS more than "500 times" to work out what the Jim Halpert star, 44, said to his wife, 40. "Did he say I can’t wait to divorce," asked one eagle-eyed fan on TikTok.

They added: "And she said hey and he stated I’m serious." While someone else theorised: "I've watched this 500 times trying to convince myself he said something other than divorce." Another "swears" Krasinski is talking about "divorce" in the clip.

Others said there's nothing to worry and that they were simply discussing the weather at the star-studded ceremony held in Beverly Hills over the weekend. "I can't wait to get indoors," said another viewer, snubbing any suggestion of marital talk.

Others reckon he was saying the word "awards", not "divorce". While another fan suggested John was obviously saying "It's actually kinda chilly right now", claiming that his wife then replied "I can't wait to get indoors", this theory was backed by another.

John and Emily's red carpet appearance didn't get off to a great start, with the pair being rated amongst the 'worst dressed' by former Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills star Morgan Stewart. Morgan, who is married to Dr. Phil’s son and musician Jordan McGraw, shared a video from Access Hollywood of Emily and John and wrote her opinion across it.

She said: “Love Emily blunt but i couldn’t hate her dress more And his look is laughable bad." Emily, a Best Supporting Actress nominee, was dressed in a heavily embellished gold and white Alexander McQueen gown which an intricate beaded bodice with detals down to her thighs at mini-length, the dress then transformed into sheer shite netting down to the ground which showed her legs in a key Spring 2024 fashion trend.
