The Baywatch icon, Pamela Anderson, long known for her striking beauty and extravagant glamor, reveals she has adopted a raw and natural appeal in later life.

In the '90s, Pamela was synonymous with high-coverage makeup, accentuated lashes, dark eyeliner and overdrawn lips. The starlet celebrated her 57th birthday on July 1st and is continuing the trend of opting for a more stripped-back appearance, which is quite a departure from her former persona.

The decision to steer clear of makeup stemmed from a poignant moment when her makeup artist and dear friend, Alexis Vogel, was diagnosed with breast cancer and tragically passed away. The loss resulted in Pamela's choice not to hire another makeup artist and rather abandon makeup entirely.

Pamela previously disclosed to Elle about the decision stating: "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup."

The star candidly spoke about how her new approach has been "freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious."

She continued: "I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it's just like me to go against the grain."

Further elaborating her thoughts she added, "I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I'm kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, 'Wow, this is really...what's happening to me? ' It's a journey."

Pamela told the magazine that she's fully embraced aging and genuinely is "in a good place" regarding her looks.

Pamela also opened up about her new look in an interview with Allure last year, where she discussed how ditching heavy makeup had given her a sense of freedom. She confessed that the change had prompted her to reflect more deeply on her life and purpose, and had motivated her to connect with others and consider how she could help them.

She said: "I've always felt like there's a little monster inside of me that I need to get out, I need to share. I've been trying and I've begun to feel closest to it, and it's peeling back everything and trying to remember what my original thoughts are. It's not just about makeup, taking off the mask, but it's about why am I here, what's my purpose, why do I resonate with people, can I help in any way? ".
