Is Bennifer over? All of the signs the 'greatest love story ever told' is ending in divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been at the centre of speculation with rumours circulating that the "greatest love story ever told" might be over.

An insider claimed the marriage is "not in the best place at the moment" with another source saying the issues go deep down into who they are as people. They explained: "She likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world. He is more introspective and private. This has been difficult day-to-day." JLo's more open tendencies are proven by her recent album and short film combo. The Amazon Prime production, This Is Me...Now: A Love Story, is a take on the tumultuous love life between the pair.

After tying the knot just two years ago during a surprise ceremony at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, some are speculating their marriage could near an end soon as multiple sources claim the two are having issues. The Hollywood couple has not confirmed whether their marriage is truly on the rocks, but here are the signs that could suggest problems in the relationship.

Living apart

This month, insiders have claimed that Ben "moved out" of the couple's home, with some sources indicating the singer is looking for a new house in Beverly Hills. A source told InTouch: "The writing is on the wall - it's over. They're headed for a divorce - and for once, [Ben's] not to blame! They'll never stop loving each other, but she can't control him, and he can't change her. There's no way it could have lasted."

After InTouch claimed Ben had moved out, TMZ obtained images of him driving away from a house in Brentwood and claimed he has been staying there for the last week. Jennifer was also spotted viewing a lavish home in Los Angeles this week, but US Weekly was since told it was an investment property.

It is believed Ben is not comfortable with sharing details of their relationship publicly, which has been blamed as a partial reason for the alleged split. Their relationship was front and centre of Jennifer's Amazon Prime documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, and their rekindled romance was the focus of the $20 million short film This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, which accompanied the release of her new album This Is Me… Now.

The documentary detailed the highs and lows of their relationship, and Ben admitted he had initially asked Jennifer to keep their romance secret when they initially reunited in 2021. "Getting back together, I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media.' Then I sort of realised it's not a fair thing to ask," Ben recalled.

Ben 'rents mansion' near ex-wife

Ben is said to have rented out a 10,000 square feet home, costing $100,000 (£78,500) per month, just two blocks from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner's house. The property includes a private tennis court and pool, as well as an outdoor patio and a balcony overlooking the backyard property.

The house is also nestled behind shrubbery and trees, blocking the sight of the main road and adding a bit of privacy. This multi-floor house could be his escape from the tense situation at home with JLo.

Not seen together for two months

Jennifer and Ben have not been seen together in public since the end of March, which has fuelled divorce rumours. The last time they were photographed publicly together was when they stepped out for a day together in New York City on March 30.

While Jen has been spotted out at several events including the Met Gala and rehearsals for her upcoming tour, her husband has been doing his own thing turning up to Tom Brady's Roast alone and filming for The Accountant 2. Last week, Jennifer was spotted out alone again as she arrived at a Los Angeles dance studio wearing cream joggers teamed with a tan-coloured hoodie.

This week, Jennifer shared snaps from the premiere of her latest movie Atlas in Mexico and stunned her followers with the barely-there ensemble. But despite all the speculation, the pair were both snapped wearing their wedding rings on their solo trips.

Ben in 'no mood to smile'

Ben's latest outing was when he was seen leaving Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday. The actor wore black lace-up boots, khaki pants, and a blue button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and only half tucked in.

Body language expert Judi James noted the Argo actor was not a "fan of the very public life," which might have affected his relationship with the limelight-loving Jennifer, and that during his outing he seemed "in no mood to smile." Judi said: "Sadly it seems to be being made clear to Ben that it's now not only his appearances with Jennifer that make him a lightning rod for camera interest.

"He seems to be no fan of the very public life he and Jennifer have to lead at times and here he seems to try to avoid any sense of pressure by using his height to look above the level of the photographers." She added that his looks might also show his annoyance with the flashing cameras, saying: "His eyes are rounded and his jaw drops open slightly and he seems to be in no mood to smile and suggest a celebrity-style air of any love of paparazzi attention."

Jennifer's response to interviewer

While promoting her Netflix movie, Atlas, in Mexico, Jennifer was asked about her marriage to Ben. A video posted by El Gordo y la Flaca show on Univision, showed the interviewer asking if the rumours about her and Ben splitting are true. The question was immediately shut down by an announcer while Jennifer was seen laughing it off and then looking straight at the interviewer saying: "You know better than that."

Followers of the television show commented on the post on Instagram noticing the "hurt" in her face and rushed to her defence. One person wrote: "She looks so hurt when asked that question. They should just leave her alone."

Another person wrote in Spanish: "She went to promote her movie, not to mention her private life." A third person wrote: "Instead of being asked about Ben Affleck, ask questions about her work and her next projects. that's what people care to know not their private life. that's her problem not ours." A fourth person wrote: "Jlo has a sad look."

Singer feels 'misunderstood'

JLo has admitted to feeling "misunderstood at times" as she opened up on life outside of showbiz. The comments came as J-Lo was promoting Atlas without Ben Affleck by her side. Opening up about how she can resonate, but is also different from her latest character portrayal in the sci-fi movie, J-Lo said: "We are so different because she, like, doesn’t wear any of her emotions."

Speaking to People, she continued: "She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes...At times. She was very sure. She was like, ‘This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit."

JLo 'hiring crisis PR'

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly "hiring crisis PR" to help navigate her potential split with her husband as sources claim "a divorce filing is imminent." As J. Lo and Ben face ongoing divorce rumours, insiders claim that Jennifer is already planning for the future by hiring a PR expert to help handle her impending divorce in the public eye, according to reports by In Touch.

Sources also claim that if the pair do decide to call off their marriage, they expect Jennifer to also hire famous divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her once again. An insider told In Touch: "Laura was the divorce lawyer who mediated Ben's divorce with Jennifer Garner, and she represented JLo in her divorce with Marc Anthony. So there's history on both sides."

'Shady post'

Jennifer added fuel to the fire when she liked a post on Instagram about unhealthy relationships and poor communication. The post consisted of several slides that detailed how "you cannot build a healthy relationship with somebody" who "lacks integrity and emotional safety," "doesn't respect your time," lacks "communication skills" and "doesn't have a strong sense of self".
