Piers Morgan has done the unthinkable and seemingly sided with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid the controversy surrounding Prince William and Kate Middleton's edited Mother's Day snap.

Morgan has made some bold claims about Prince William, suggesting he might be "trying to cover something up" amid the ongoing Kate-gate saga. On Wednesday night, Piers shared that he's "been told some" things which he isn't sure are true, but if they are, "it's pretty alarming what is happening" with the Royal Family.

In a surprising twist, Morgan even agreed with something said by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's team during his latest broadcast, which is unusual for him as he often criticises the couple. Discussing Kate seemingly apologising for editing an image shared over the weekend to mark Mother's Day, Morgan revealed that he has heard from sources how Harry and Meghan feel about the scandal.

On his YouTube show Uncensored, Morgan said he's heard that Harry and Meghan's team think "all hell would have broken loose" if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had made such an embarrassing mistake and released a doctored image. Morgan agreed, saying, "If they have said that, it's a perfectly valid point."

The former Good Morning Britain anchor talked about the fallout from Kate's Mother's Day blunder on his YouTube channel on Wednesday night. During the broadcast, He showed clips from American TV shows where people are talking about William and Kate's marriage.

After showing a short clip from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the comedian teases the British Royal family, Morgan then tells his viewers: "He [Colbert] then went on to make some extraordinary claims about William and Kate's marriage, which I won't repeat."

Viewers of Piers Morgan Uncensored were then shown a clip of British comic John Oliver joking on an American show, saying: "There's a non-zero chance Kate Middleton died 18 months ago." To show how much attention the Mother's Day photoshop fail is getting in America, a clip of a White House press office discussing the botched edit was then played.

"Was it actually taken last week? " Morgan then wondered as he discussed the image himself. "They say so but can we believe that? If it was so awful [it needed editing] why not release one of the other photos from the archives they never released," he continued to tell his viewers.

"Morgan then asked: "Why is Princess Catherine, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, spending time hunched over photoshop, making amateur edits of official portraits when they literally have servants to do that. Most baffling of all, why not edit in the missing wedding ring?"

Morgan shared his thoughts, saying he feels "enormous personal sympathy for the family" right now, especially as King Charles is dealing with a cancer diagnosis. He then added: "Kate needs a break, I agree, but it was their decision to release this photograph and it's led to even more conspiracy theories.

"He brought on three guests to talk about it. Morgan mentioned: "On one level [the edited picture] could be trivial - she could be fine and doing well and tried to do something to correct the conspiracies and got it wrong - or it could be that they're hiding something. "Morgan made a bold claim: "I've been told some stuff that, if even half of it is true, it's pretty alarming what is happening.

Kate seemingly broke her silence on the matter via a social media statement on Monday morning. A friend shared that the future queen might be sad because of the trouble caused by what was meant to be a simple family picture. On Kate and William's joint Instagram page, they posted at 10.28am on Monday: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C."
