Martha Stewart earned her fortune as one of America's leading homemaking experts.

And while many would take her word as gospel to create beautiful living spaces in their own homes, it seems the tide has now changed after her mansion make-over was described as "bland and boring." Martha, 82, posted pictures on her social media proudly showing off the transformation of her living room at her home in Maine, America.

However, instead of receiving praise, Martha was left stunned at the amount of people who didn't like her colour scheme. And so the TV personality hit back at the hate she was receiving and said: "I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed!!!"

She claimed at the time she posted the images, her team of assistants had only spent three hours moving out her old furniture, replacing it with new ones. She added: "It was an attempt to change quickly and efficiently. Making a house a home, or a room a beautiful liveable space takes a lot more than three hours. Of course there will be colour, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects Stay tuned!!!!"

Martha Stewart became the oldest model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine

In the pictures, Martha's choice of colour scheme included cream, brown and beige, which left her followers describing it as a "furniture showroom." Others commented and said it "didn't look homely", while some others said it was "bland" and "boring."

Earlier this year, the TV host candidly admitted to not wearing underwear. Speaking at a luncheon while in Florida she explained that she doesn't like to be restricted by underwear. She told the audience: "I like bathing suits. I like wearing bathing suits under my clothes just in case I want to go swimming. Bathing suits are my underwear. I don’t wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no Skims for Martha. But I love Skims. I think they serve a very good purpose - but I don’t wear those."

While many were shocked to hear Martha's veiled swipe at Kim Kardashian's brand, it seems the lifestyle guru is far from bothered. She continued: "Is Kim Kardashian going to be mad at me? No, she won’t be mad at me. She knows I don’t wear Skims." But in 2021, Kim told a completely different story on Martha's love/hate relationship with her brand. In an interview with Vogue, she said: "She stopped me at a party. I'll never forget. I'm obsessed with Martha Stewart. So I was walking in New York and I hear, 'Kim! Kim!' And I turn around, and she's like, 'I just need Skims. I love it!' I was like, anything for you! It was just such a proud moment that Martha Stewart wanted Skims."

Martha left fans shocked when she became the oldest model to feature on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. Making history for being the oldest model to grace the cover of the publication, Martha said: "When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated. And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic."
