Ellie Goulding has been spotted out for dinner with estranged husband Caspar Jopling the day after returning from Costa Rica where she spent time with her new boyfriend.
The Starry Eyed hitmaker, 37, was seen looking relaxed and cheerful as she shared a meal with her ex before they were seen sharing a warm embrace in the street, then taking a stroll in London last Saturday. Ellie and art dealer Caspar, 32, were married for four years, but announced they would be going their separate ways in February, after photos of Ellie cosying up with her surfer beau emerged.
They share three-year-old son Arthur, who they are now 'successfully co-parenting' after their split was made public.
Ellie took to Instagram to confirm that she and Caspar and separated, after she was spotted with surf instructor Armando Perez. The Love Me Like You Do singer explained that she had split from Caspar "some time ago", but said they were still friends for their son.
In the statement, she wrote: "In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Casper and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our sons best interests at heart."
Caspar updated his followers too, saying: "I feel (sadly) that I need to say something on mine and Ellie's current relationship... that I hope more than anything will make any final tabloid speculation disappear."
He continued: "Ellie and I made the decision to separate some time ago. Our immediate family and close friends have known for some time - otherwise we chose to do what we could to keep this private. Ellie and I remain the closest of friends and, most importantly, 'co-parents' to the best kiddo in the world, Arthur. This is the last I want to say on this - and please ask that you respect mine and Ellie's privacy."
An insider at the time said that Ellie had "moved on" a while back, but was keeping things private, adding there was "simply no way back" for the former lovers.
They told the Mail: "It is so sad, especially because they have got little Arthur but they can't make it work and now it, really sadly, is going to end in divorce. There is no way that the marriage can be saved, the only way it is going to end now is by divorcing. It wasn't necessarily the outcome they have always wanted but that's where they are, Ellie is ready to date other men if he isn't already, Caspar surely will be back out on the market again soon."
