Our favorite archaeologist is back for his newest video game adventure from MachineGames and Lucasfilm Games.

There’s more to see from Indiana Jones’ next adventure. Today at the Xbox Summer Showcase, MachineGames and Lucasfilm Games unveiled a brand-new cinematic from Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is coming to Xbox Series XIS, PC, and Xbox Game Pass in 2024.

The Great Circle takes players to 1937 for a story that’s set between the adventures Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). As we can see in the clip above, Indy’s back in the Himalayas, a place he’s visited before in both Raiders and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). This time, however, something quite unusual is going on.

Just how a battleship managed to get atop a snowy mountain peak remains a mystery, but we can enjoy some classic banter and fisticuffs with Indy, his companion Gina Lombardi, and their villainous foes.

What’s also a mystery is the reason why everyone is preoccupied with the stone marked in an unknown language that Indy translates as “earth – something…” The enemy is willing to do anything to obtain it, and both Indy and Gina have made quite a long hike to do the same.

It’s Gina who helps get the upper hand in their confrontation. This new character is a fitting companion for Indy, quick on her feet and a cunning adversary (she even speaks a little Italian in the scene). We’ll have to wait and see what else there is to learn about their relationship.

In the brief moments which open and close the cinematic, we’re also treated to an exciting string of action-packed moments. We see the Great Pyramids and Sphinx of ancient Egypt, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and the kingdom of Sukhothai in Thailand. Indy has more than one encounter with a towering brute of a foe, reminiscent of the many over-sized villains with whom he does battle in his big-screen adventures. And of course, our old pal Marcus Brody is back again!
