The Lourdes hospital foundation grants $100,000 to mercy house of the southern tier

Mr. Robert L. O'Connell, President of the Lourdes Hospital foundation presented a $100,000 grant to Linda Cerra, Executive director of the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, towards the cost of an expansion project that will add six resident rooms with private bathrooms to the current facility.  Guthrie Hospice Vestal is the exclusive provider of Hospice services to the residents at Mercy House.

The Lourdes Hospital Foundation is proud to support and sustain this vital community resource through Guthrie Hospice Vestal.

OUR MISSION

The Lourdes Hospital Foundation exists to support Guthrie Lourdes Hospital in its mission of providing the highest quality healthcare to New York's Southern Tier region. The purpose of the Lourdes Foundation is to solicit and to receive contributions and make distributions to the Hospital. The Foundation seeks to raise funds for the benefit of various programs, projects and departments at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital and relies on public support and individual philanthropy to continue to support the Hospital in its mission.

About

funded projects

The Lourdes Hospital Foundation not only helps individuals, but also, supports the Hospital with specific major projects and upgrades to equipment.  Most recently, through the generosity of one donor, the Foundation was able to fund the purchase of 16 fetal heart monitors and their carts.  This vital equipment enables the monitoring of moms and babies all while staying in the comfort and security of their hospital rooms.

With funding from the Lourdes Hospital Foundation, Guthrie Lourdes Hospital was able to purchase a van to be used for both patient transport and delivery support to Lourdes rural outpatient sites.

The purchase of this van will support growing patient and outreach needs of practice sites that are in rural communities. It will be used for patient transport and also, supply deliveries and maintenance needs at those sites.  As public transportation is not available at most, if not all of our rural sites of care, this van will surely be a welcome and well-used essential component of outreach care!
