    What's one thing you wish was in the job description, but never is? This is why it’s important to read between the lines vs. what’s on paper when job searching, says Aditi Javeri Gokhale, Strategic Advisor at Northwestern Mutual. Don’t just look at the job at hand. “Ask the person you’re working for and the team what success looks like, because that’s not on paper,” she told LinkedIn News at the Milken Institute Global Conference.     It’s time to rethink how we hire. JPMorganChase CEO Jamie Dimon has a major suggestion for how to do it: 👉🏻 Open up the talent pool by recruiting people straight out of high school. “If you want to help society and help yourselves, get these kids in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade with skills that get them a good job,” Dimon explains. Schools should start including topics “you don't traditionally teach in high school,” like financial and program management, suggests Dimon, in order to set young adults up for well-paying jobs sooner. “It's great for society.     What’s stopping you from charging more $$$ for your services? “I was afraid to be worth that much. I was afraid of the responsibility. I was afraid of seeing myself in that way, that my work was worth $1,500 or more,” says Rachel Rodgers, CEO of Hello Seven. “I think a lot of women and people of color have that fear. It seems easier and less scary to charge less, but we put ourselves in situations where we then are destitute, or our business or income is not sustainable because we are not charging what we should be charging.” The way forward?     The use of generative artificial intelligence at work doubled in the first half of 2024, according to recent research from Microsoft and LinkedIn. With an estimated one out of every ten jobs in the U.S. facing disruption due to AI advancements, it’s no surprise many workers are looking to stay ahead of the curve. Across more than 20 job functions polled in LinkedIn’s latest Workforce Confidence survey, product managers are the most likely U.S. professionals to report they leverage AI products such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot regularly. Marketers, consultants, human resource professionals and engineers follow as the workers most likely to be using AI on the job. There are several roles, however, where AI tools are still unlikely to be a part of workers’ day-to-day. Those working in military and protective services, law, quality assurance, administrative services and healthcare services are the least likely to be using AI on a daily or weekly basis.
