About us

Scared and ready? Doubtful and brave? Yes? You’re in the right place, at the right time! WELCOME to the Future Health HERo initiative. "Scared and ready. “Doubtful and brave." “If I don’t go, I don’t have a story” “I walk my talk” These aren't just statements; they're some of the mottos of a new generation of Healthcare leaders. Our Future Health HERo sweatshirt collection is a tapestry of bold affirmations, weaving together the threads of dreams, determination, and diversity. This fashion collection is just one little part of how our FHH initiative is supporting you, young future women leaders in Healthcare. As the chair of WorkInHealth Foundation, which is the “mother organization” of Future Health HERo, Celine Carrera, MBA puts it: "If Europe is to maintain a vibrant and sustainable Healthcare sector that can lead in innovation, we must rise to the challenge of recruiting and educating the best talent.” Young talents are the keystones for an innovative and resilient Healthcare system. This is why the Future Health HERo project was born. We need you. You are at the core of these 2 missions: 1. EMPOWERING WOMEN INTO LEADERSHIP We believe in the untapped potential of women in Healthcare leadership. Despite women making almost 70% of the Healthcare and social care workforce globally, women hold just 25% of senior management roles, earning 24% less than men. FHH is here to change that narrative by motivating and supporting women to climb the ladder and shatter glass ceilings by offering access to leadership mindset training, inspiration, job opportunities. BRIDGING THE TALENT GAP Healthcare needs fresh perspectives. Your fresh perspective. Whether you're a coder, a creator, or a strategist, from tech, business, or arts, and you have never ever thought about working in Healthcare - think again. Your unique skills are vital to shaping the future of the Healthcare sector! You are welcome to sit at the table! Your FHH team

Isn't it great when you are in the room with people who have achieved a lot and they make YOU feel important, cheer you on and lift you up!? That's the circles you need to choose if you have big dreams and goals. It was such an honour and pleasure to host Mr. Luca Perego, head of Unit EIT and Innovation at the European Commission. It was great to hear his words of encouragement - for the amazing young women in Europe and for all of us working on different initiatives to support them! He said: "I'm here today at the EIT Health Summit, an amazing opportunity to also showcase what the European Union is doing for young women who want to really expose their talent. We have a lot of initiatives in the European Union for youngsters who want to really make the difference. You may consider the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative and the EIT Campus which you should consider if you are looking to increase your competencies. If you are focused on the Health sector, I also encourage you to consider this amazing initiative which is the Future Health HERo! It's something that can give you really the potential to expose your talent.” We admit, we at FHH and WorkInHealth Foundation are hovering above ground a little because it means our projects really do good and make a difference! We are celebrating you and us! Yours, FHH team

Women are leaving! Recently, we've seen women in top roles leave their posts including: Helena Helmersson, the former CEO of H&M who quit in January after only 4 years, Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube till last year and Dame Sharon White who is stepping down as chair of John Lewis next year after the shortest term in their history. Why are so many women who reach the peak of the corporate ladder choosing to give up the view from the top? We know women have to overcome difficult career obstacles like the broken rung to succeed and still they choose to do so. Why? It's called the Great Breakup. McKinsey's latest “Women in the Workplace report” found that women at the director level are leaving at higher rates than before and significantly more frequently than men at the same level. That means there's even less representation of women at the highest levels of leadership. Here's a few reasons behind the Great Breakup: 🪤 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽  Women leaders at work are caught in a double bind called the likeability trap coined by Alicia Menendez: “If women show warmth, empathy or kindness, they're dismissed as incompetent or weak and if they're assertive, decisive and calculated, they're considered cold and disagreeable.” ⚖ 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 Women leaders are held to a higher bar than their male counterparts, leaving them susceptible to the blame game. Research by The Rockefeller Foundation found that male and female CEOs are portrayed differently by the media in times of crisis: female CEOs are more likely to be blamed as the source of the crisis (80% of stories) than male CEOs (31%). ♖ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 The modern workplace wasn't designed for women - that's why systemic issues like the gender pay gap, motherhood penalty and lack of gender parity continue to perpetuate the workforce. In her book Invisible Women, Caroline Criado Perez uses extensive research to uncover a gender data gap that has created bias impacting women in the workplace and everywhere else. What now? 1️⃣ FHH is talking about it publicly - not putting our heads in the sand is step no. 1. 2️⃣ FHH is connecting with Health HERoes, women in top management positions in Healthcare now, to hear your perspectives and advice! 3️⃣ FHH is involving Future Health HERoes, young ambitious women in Healthcare, asking you to sit at the table, listen to you and guide you in CEO self-care plus mindset and leadership skills. If you are new here, hi, we’re a hub for dreamers and doers - for future women leaders in Healthcare and we’re building a community right here - and it’s free to join: www.futurehealthhero.eu What do you think is causing the Great Breakup dear Health HERoes?
