How can fluorine replace oxygen and why is that relevant? Exciting breakthrough in battery innovation! Lin Jiang and other members of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team collaborated with ChongMin Wang’s team at Pacific Northwest National Lab and other collaborators from top research institutes on a ground-breaking study involving the incorporation of fluorine into cation-disordered rocksalt (DRX) cathodes. Their research revealed that fluorine substitutes oxygen in the DRX lattice, enhancing cyclability and performance. These findings provide crucial insights for the design of high-performance oxyfluoride DRX cathodes.
