A skills program to create on-ramps into great jobs

This is a unique moment in time, in which we have the opportunity to rebuild an economy that works for all Americans -- without limitation based on zip code, race, or education level. This has always been the mission of Grow with Google, to ensure the opportunities created by technology are truly available to everyone.  

Opportunity starts with jobs. And we believe absence of a four-year degree should never be a barrier to getting a great job. This is especially important since only one-third of Americans complete a college degree. 

That’s why in 2018, we launched our IT Support Professional Certificate to create onramps to well paid jobs in America’s fastest growing field. At 254k enrollments, it’s the #1 professional certificate offered on Coursera globally. We’ve seen its life-changing potential in helping nontraditional and underrepresented learners enter the IT field. 80% of those who complete the certificate have already experienced a positive career outcome such as getting a better job or a raise. 

So this week, we announced new Google Career Certificates in the high paying, high growth fields of Project Management, Data Analytics and User Experience (UX) Design. All of which are growing fields and have a median salary of $55k or higher. Entirely developed by Google employees who work in these fields, the certificates can be completed online in about six months part-time without any prior experience. And at Google, we’ll consider these certificate completions as an equivalent credential to a college degree for entry level jobs.
