Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

Three years of working experience and already a quarter-life crisis. That is the sad, widespread reality for many born in 1998 and 1999 (including me!). Not knowing what to do, having a vague idea of what we like, fear of failure, and all other things that make us feel uncertain about the life choices that we are about to make.

"Everyone has their share of failure, so spend your share of failures while you are still young."

It is easy to say, but it is hard to do. My fear of failure obstructs my view of the opportunity to start something new.

Should I start a small business? Pass, I'm not good enough to sell something.

Should I try to make my hobby into a side job? Pass, my skills can't compete with professionals already in that field.

Should I try to make a social movement? Pass, I need more time to do it during my projects.

Working and doing the same daily routine makes me increasingly comfortable, and I dare not to disrupt old habits. Luckily, I have Mas Ingmar V. and Mba Dian Irawati – my superiors at BOI Research who strongly encourage research executives here to be more productive, try new things, and one thing that is not offered in many other workplaces: being BOLD.

Being bold in expressing opinions, taking risks, and taking responsibility.

Responsibility for what? If you have an idea; you must also figure out how to execute it. Be creative and mindful in every step you take. Be resourceful; the aim is to be successful. Failures and problems might occur, but that's what makes you better at it, right?

That's why, in BOI Research, we have our own BOI Labs.

No- we are not wearing white coats with big goggles and microscopes. We're trying to find what we like to do and what we want to achieve in the future and combine them into our projects. We can do whatever we want to do about anything and experiment the hell out of everything.

Of course, we're doing it under experienced supervision (which are Mba Dian and Mas Ingmar, of course, duh), and they are happily sharing their words of wisdom about what to do for our ideas. I've been working on my BOI Labs for the past year and making small progress. It's undoubtedly an eye-opening process of self-discovery. I can understand what I like and don't like, things that I'm good and bad at, and a clearer idea of what I want to do in the future.

I don't want to jinx it, but I am working on an initiative for my BOI Labs to provide organizations, both profit and non-profit, with a fresh perspective on brand activation. I've named this initiative the "Chimpui Project." The project is designed to offer a wide range of services focused on increasing brand awareness and establishing a solid brand presence. Currently, I am discussing with various individuals from agencies, brands, and NGOs to understand their specific needs and identify gaps in their current work. If you are interested in engaging in a discussion and sharing your insights, please don't hesitate to contact me via direct message! I am open to all kinds of discussions and perspectives 🙂
