Hello friends,

The online book I've been editing since last Summer is now published:

24 TIMES: THE HARVESTMEN UTOPIA, part 1: On Earth.

It is a book by one of the first digital artists in the Netherlands, now 85 and still working. She writes literature with autobiographic elements, and a strong interest in culture, art and the virtual travel the internet has made possible - also for older people who can't leave home in other ways, like the artist herself. Science and technology (robots, ai, the internet) and feminism, independence and empowerment are her other interests that are woven into the book. Besides text the book also contains many digital images, for large part created by herself. These bring the landscapes and the 'harvestmen' of the book to live.

As an 85-year old, Det Digit is still reading the latest AI books and literature from around the world. If you are curious what kind of book emerges from such a long live, start reading 24 TIMES: THE HARVESTMEN UTOPIA, part 1: On Earth and follow Det Digit on Medium and Twitter to see the chapters of Part 2, To Mars, that are currently being written and will soon emerge.

From the book:

In 1981, when my youngest son was 12 years old, I bought my first Commodore 64 computer. We copied computer programs out of a German magazine to invent the basics of programming by just changing numbers and letters. My son said: It’s all magic.

My life as an internet artist was born

Now in 2019 algorithms increasingly control and decide our future, a dialog between human and machine is indispensable in our daily society. Robots have entered our lives.

Enjoy, and do let me and the author (who happens to be my mother as well) know what you think!
