🎣The Sophisticated Phishing Hacks of Online Scammers

#phishing is one of the most frequently reported cybercrimes. The methods fraudsters use to trick their victims are cleverly designed and go beyond sending suspicious emails. Modern phishing involves advanced social engineering techniques that can make it rather difficult to spot phishing attempts. Often, inexperience with technology and credulity are the main reasons people fall for these types of cyberattacks.

For businesses, the consequences can be severe. There have been cases where scammers succeeded in persuading businesses that they were legit IT experts. Socially engineered phone calls and emails made the scammers’ stories credible, and staff did not hesitate to reveal sensitive data as they believed to be talking to their IT. Staying #vigilant is the key to avoiding becoming a victim of phishing attacks. Thankfully, there are things we can do to increase our awareness. 💡

In our latest blog post, we take a closer look at the slick methods of online scammers. Find out how you can protect yourself and your company from phishing attacks. 🐱 👤

🔑 AnyDesk Abuse Prevention

Sadly, there have been instances where scammers have abused #remoteaccess Technology. They have misused AnyDesk and other professional Remote Desktop Tools to trick their victims into allowing full access to devices. Remote Access scammers often claim to fix an IT issue or a security breach on the victim’s machine that never existed in the first place. 💻

That way, cybercriminals create the illusion that Remote Access Software was unsafe to use. They tend to misuse reputable brand names - such as AnyDesk, Microsoft, and Amazon - because users recognize and trust them. In reality, AnyDesk and other professional tools are fulfilling the highest security standards, even for government institutions.

To avoid becoming a victim of Remote Access scams, we recommend:

✔️ Never share your AnyDesk ID with people you don’t trust

✔️ Don’t allow access to your devices from people you don’t know

✔️ Restrict permissions for the person connecting to you

✔️ When you suspect a scamming attempt, report it to us

Learn what to do when you believe you have become a victim of a #remoteaccessscam. We help you to detect scammers and provide valuable tips on what to do next when you believe you have been scammed.
