How we’re helping drive equitable conversations

People at all stages in their careers come to LinkedIn for a variety of reasons – to share their professional knowledge or experience, look for a job, learn about a new topic or to stay connected with others. We know how important it is for our members to feel like they belong and to discuss topics they care about, and to be supported along the way.

Creating equal access to opportunity and helping drive equitable outcomes across our platform is our forever priority, and transparency and accountability are critical components of this journey. Here's what's top of mind for me and our partner teams for the next few months and into the new year.

Policies and Enforcement

We continue to invest in our teams, tools, and technology - and work to ensure they support the shifting conversations happening in the world. This includes the ongoing training and quality assessment of our human reviewers, with a special focus on cultural sensitivity, allyship, and anti-racism. This work requires cultural awareness and reviews are done in-region where possible. We’ll continue to work everyday to get this right through regular coaching, refresher sessions and policy updates.

Our Products and Platform

Identifying and mitigating systemic unfair bias in our products is another key area that we're focused on. If harmful biases are identified anywhere in our products, platform, or processes, we work to address them quickly. We're actively assessing our AI-based models as well as our content review systems for potential impacts on different communities.

Self-ID

Over the past several years we’ve been asking our members to self-identify on LinkedIn and since we launched, several million members have shared some aspect of their identity. As we continue to collect Self-ID data we’ll be able to start to gain a greater understanding of member experiences on the platform, further evaluate fairness in our automated systems, and help drive equitable conversations by better connecting people on LinkedIn to opportunities.

We’re committed to always improving, and will share more information in the months to come as we continue this journey on behalf of everyone in our professional community.

Terrific address. I appreciate you naming intentional efforts toward equitable outcomes. Thanks Oscar!
