It’s hard to believe that 2022 is almost over! With the new year just around the corner, the last month of the year feels like the perfect time to showcase selected highlights around the SAP Business Technology Platform. Like we did last year, we adopt a tradition that's common in Germany and many other countries. Starting on December 1 and leading up to Christmas Eve on December 24, each day reveals a new story around SAP BTP.
Each day, we will share a highlight from our teams here on LinkedIn, with access to dive deeper into the topic. We’ve had many announcements and updates throughout the year, so this is a good opportunity to catch up. These achievements are not possible without the talented teams who relentlessly work on the SAP Business Technology Platform, delivering and developing for our customers and the SAP ecosystem every day.

Supporting the fight against the Covid pandemic with the Corona-Warn-App 🦠
Interrupting the chains of infection is one of the most effective tools for fighting any pandemic, and the Corona-Warn-App (CWA) was designed to do exactly that. Since it went live in June 2020, it has been downloaded more than 47 million times. Because millions of users anonymously shared their positive COVID test results, more than 200 million close contacts across the European Union were warned providing them with the opportunity to get tested and possibly isolate and seek early treatment to avoid hospitalization or intensive care. Being an open-source project entirely with a rigorous focus on data privacy and a fully agile development methodology, the CWA won several design awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, and attracted a vibrant supporting community. Join us today on the CWA GitHub repository.
Meet our Developer Advocates community! 🚀
In October, our Developer Advocates re-launched Devtoberfest in a new home, the SAP Community, to get the internal and external SAP developer community warmed up for SAP TechEd 2022. The virtual event included traditional hackathons as well as community learning elements and spreads across multiple weeks to better accommodate everyone’s busy schedules. Celebrating the first anniversary of SAP Task Center ✨
Last year, we launched SAP Task Center, establishing one central inbox across different SAP solutions. Check out available missions on SAP Discovery Center and start with the initial setup of SAP Task Center on the SAP Business Technology Platform before taking the next step with integrating an SAP solution as a task provider. The team released a refreshed version of SAP’s Integration Strategy Paper. This integration roadmap for end-to-end process integration in the cloud and on the ground now also includes powerful AI integration scenarios, the latest highlights about the Suite Qualities, lots of new process innovations and customer examples, and an outlook on what's coming in 2023. 100k+ downloads in the past 2 years show the continued interest in this topic from our customers, partners, and the entire SAP ecosystem.

Easy access to apps and tasks with SAP Start 🎯
SAP Start is a new service on the SAP Business Technology Platform and is currently available in beta. It's an SAP-managed home page for cloud solutions from SAP. It allows access to apps and tasks from connected systems and can tap into preconfigured business content across lines of business.
We want to bring the business processes and applications to the end user whenever and wherever they need them. With the SAP Start site and the SAP Build Work Zone solution, we are enabling business users to create smooth access to all business applications and processes across systems.

At SAP we have shared our commitment to helping our customers become integrated Intelligent Enterprises already back in 2020 with our integration strategy whitepaper Intelligent Enterprises are Integrated Enterprises. It describes SAP’s holistic approach to end-to-end business process integration that is supported by the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).
This blog in the SAP Community describes how the Integration Architecture Guide for Cloud and Hybrid Landscapes provides guidance on how enterprise and integration architects can evolve their existing integration architecture based on the SAP Business Technology Platform and the SAP technology offerings available today.

Setting up SAP BTP services and accounts in a simpler way ⚙️
With the btp-setup-automator tool, developers can use an open-source tool that helps them with the automation of setting up their accounts and services for SAP Business Technology Platform. The tool was released in March 2022 and this blog provides you with more details on how to use it.
The btp-setup-automator is making use of metadata from the very beginning. As such data might be usable for other development tasks, SAP is exposing this data through a new open source GitHub repository for SAP BTP service metadata.
SAP BTP continues to reduce planned downtime through maintenance harmonization 🏆
Customer communications with respect to Major Upgrade Windows (MUW) have improved and MUW windows have been shifted to Saturday, local data center time, and spread over three consecutive weekends to improve resiliency. The benefit of harmonized downtime windows is that it reduces the overall downtime for our customers. Major Upgrade Windows for SAP BTP Cloud Services is executed once per quarter as publicly visible on the harmonized release calendar for SAP Cloud Solutions and the Service Level Agreement.
Create your unified story with SAP Analytics Cloud 📖
Announced just last month, our Unified Story experience is now available within SAP Analytics Cloud combining powerful story design and advanced analytical application.
Users no longer need to decide in advance between creating a new story or a new analytics application. They can simply start with a story and then extend it with scripting, custom widgets, and other developer capabilities.

Extend your business processes with the new SAP Private Link service 🕶️
This new service is generally available on Azure since June 2022 and allows customers to establish private network connections between the SAP Business Technology Platform and resources like VMs, databases, or storage accounts running in their own hyperscaler accounts. SAP Private Link is available for AWS in beta and GA is planned for 2023.

Customize your SAP BTP security experience with Feature Set B 🔏
SAP Business Technology Platform continues integrating SAP Cloud Identity Services. Feature Set B now allows configuring a custom SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS) tenant for platform access. Customers can switch to their own IAS tenant to manage users and authentication in a compliant way, integrate with their corporate authentication processes, and enforce multi-factor authentication as well as their own password policies.

Keep malicious code out of your business data ⛔️
Use the SAP Malware Scanning service to scan business documents for malware. Integrate this service with your custom-developed apps running on Cloud Foundry. When your apps upload business documents, your apps can call the SAP Malware Scanning service to check for viruses and other malware.
