Geofiltering, Enhanced Text Highlighting, and Making Food Searchable with AI.

In case you're new to the newsletter, welcome aboard! We're Objective — we're AI-native search for every web & mobile app, and we're on a mission to make search human. It's been another big month here at Objective HQ, shipping new search features into your Console and sending more Private Beta invites to you fine folks. And, we're hiring! If you know a Staff Full-Stack Engineer who you think fits the description and loves building tools for developers, let them know!

Your search just learned how to filter by geography.

For all of the use cases that need semantic search and location-aware filtering, we've shipped Geofiltering into self-service Private Beta. It's as simple as adding a lat/lon pair to the Objects in your Object Store, and searching with a filter! (Only Earth coordinates currently supported 🌎).

Your search also just learned how to do enhanced context highlighting in giant text documents.

Text Highlights lets your search zoom into smaller parts of your content to bring in finger-grained understanding and bring out better search experiences. No more messy manual chunking. Just enable Highlights on a Text Index and go. If you have a Private Beta account, you can check it out now in your Console.

Making food semantically searchable with AI.

You might not know Pod Foods, but you've probably eaten something from Pod Foods. They host a marketplace that drives discovery of thousands of emerging food brands for retailers buying wholesale. Food search is hard — hard to spell ingredients, faceted search across sometimes-complex product details, allergens, and a dataset where understanding the human intent of a search query is critical to finding what users are looking for.
