DRUM UPSKILL Testimonial
Searching for a new job can be challenging in multiple aspects. Early in my tech career, I stumbled across the following questions:
- Is it safe to leave my current work in the fluctuating economy? With Covid and an unstable job market, it can feel risky.
- What do I really want to do in my next role? How can I make real advancements in my career path?
- If I take on a new role, will I be restricted to the technology I am surrounded by? Which tech stack do I want to enter next?
As a recent grad with limited work experience, I did not have the answers to these questions.
After sending out countless applications, I received a call from Kelly Rogers about the DRUM Associates ’s UPSKILL Program.
Immediately, I felt a difference in our conversation compared to other recruiters I had spoken to. Kelly Rogers did not only ask me about my work experience; she wanted to know about my work ethic, personality, interests, and journey to my current position in the industry.
After speaking with her, I felt that I had answered some of my own questions and gained more clarity about my career path. Not only this, but she simultaneously presented me with an opportunity that fully complemented my responses in our discussions.
After interviewing with Sawyer Block and Matthew Porter I was very lucky to accept an opportunity that encompassed an upskill program -- an opportunity to get paid to learn! This would lead to a Software Engineer position with a Fortune 100 insurance company.
Sawyer, our Program Manager is a great help in communicating any resources we needed and keeping us on track during our training period. He was always available to myself and my cohort members and had an extremely vibrant personality, even if I had to call him on weekends!
Matt, the company's CEO, provided all the resources I requested, and much more. Currently, I am very glad to say that I am being given the opportunity to get certified as an AWS Solutions Architect. When I asked DRUM for additional course material, they did not only offer me what I asked for, but gave me additional training from a variety of avenues.
While DRUM is a fantastic consulting company, I have yet to feel that I am working for them. Rather, I feel that they have been assisting me in my career on every level -- From my first interview with them until now!
Ultimately, DRUM Associates has had a great impact in my life with their encouraging and inclusive culture, desire to invest in my career growth, and ability to provide an upskill program that can encompass all technologies that gauge one's interest!
