Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day with Antonieta Hilst at SIG

As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we're thrilled to introduce Antonieta Hilst for those who do not know her.

1.        Could you please introduce yourself and tell us what you do at SIG

Hello, I'm Antonieta Hilst. Since joining SIG in 2006, I have evolved from a role as a Microbiologist and Service Account Manager to leading Service and Innovation in South America. My journey with SIG began after ten years with Tetra Pak as a microbiologist and food technology support, followed by two years at GEA Group as a Technical Sales Manager. Today, I lead a dynamic team of over 100 people, ensuring best service and innovation across the region.

2.        What experiences have you made as a woman in engineering?

As a food engineer, I oversee a diverse range of project activities, from R&D to maintenance, digital, and spare parts teams. My focus is always on delivering services with the highest quality and agility, ensuring the reliability and sterility of our systems.

3.        How do mentorship and support networks within engineering help professionals, particularly women, advance in their careers? Can you share examples of effective support you've seen or received?

Mentorship is crucial for career advancement, especially for women in engineering. I've been fortunate to have consistent guidance from several mentors throughout my time at SIG. My initial boss, who remains my mentor, and my functional boss at the global level, along with professional mentoring, have been instrumental in my career development. These relationships have provided me with invaluable self-knowledge and people management skills.

4.        And finally, could you share a personal quote or mantra that inspires you in your work?

My personal mantra is "learn something new every day." This philosophy keeps me current and prepared to face new challenges, continually driving my professional growth.
