This week I had the privilege of speaking at the panel on the Go Global: Singapore Health Summit alongside industry experts. We delved into the critical role of AI in healthcare, advocating for a patient-centric approach. What I like about this panel is that while we work towards a similar end goal, our approaches are different, and we don’t always need to agree on every point. Have the end in mind, yet be very nimble in the approach. Here are the takeaways from the session. 🌟 Action Steps for Healthcare Innovation: 1) Leverage AI and automation to reduce manual tasks for healthcare professionals. “High touch, high tech” - by Dr Timothy Low ,PBM, Top Hospital Sales Voice in Singapore 2) Partner with established entities to navigate regulatory landscapes. Address real pain points in healthcare, avoiding solutions in search of a problem. 3) Facilitate easy trial processes for hospitals and clinics to adopt new technologies. Make it fast yet safe. Address risk factors upfront and help to mitigate them. Let's harness technology to create more accessible, efficient, and compassionate healthcare systems. Digital health and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare 🩺 The meeting of the G20 Health Ministers in #India in August 2023 not only proved to be a forum for discussions on the promotion of #DigitalInnovations and the expansion of digital structures in #healthcare, but also provided a space for #exchange between the participating countries and their experts. Federal Minister of Health Prof. Karl Lauterbach was accompanied by a delegation of leading #AI researchers from #Germany, including Prof. Jakob Nikolas Kather, Professor of Clinical Artificial Intelligence at the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health at #TUDresden. Interesting read here - The IDC predicts that by the end of 2026, 55% of healthcare organizations in Asia Pacific will prioritise ethical and explainable AI use for predictive, preventive, and personalised care through robust data governance frameworks. Digital transformations will accelerate patients' holistic healthcare needs. However, rising costs necessitate prudent healthcare budget allocation, with a focus on greater healthcare equity and accessibility. The transition towards patient-centricity, driven by the evolution of the digital front door and healthtech ecosystem underscores the importance of establishing 'care anywhere' programs, leveraging clinical data, and prioritising trust, compliance, and explainability. It’s an exciting time in healthcare as we navigate disruptions and digital acceleration. Overcoming regulatory hurdles would definitely pave the way for practical implementation of different aspects of digital health.

Great to be part of Healthcare Asia Summit 2024, happened this week. Summarizing my observations on the key themes that were discussed and resonated well with healthcare players. #Healthcare data:  Use cases and AI applications are widening across care continuum, productivity improvement and patient monitoring. Healthcare providers in ASEAN are piloting / deploying at least 1 use case and are more open to explore further. But questions still being, 1. What can be done within the existing data? 2. How do we get clean data to ensure the realization of these use cases? 3. How to enrich EHR workflows with additional data points through integration? 4. How to share data in compliant fashion to enable ecosystem wide collaboration? 5. What is the ROI to pursue / pilot any of the AI / Gen AI solutions? #Patient experience and engagement: Healthcare providers highlighted how they are focusing on patient experience across entire journey and importance placed on patient recovery. With more of Hospital @ Home concepts getting deployed, better patient experience and faster recovery will be seen as key parameters to measure success. #Talent attraction and retention: Work burden reduction and retention of clinical workforce have been a discussion point for long time. With the emergence of innovative workforce optimizer tools and process automation, we could see tangible use cases being explored by providers. During COVID, one of the private hospital players was able to completely overhaul their recruitment strategy and streamline the training programs, that has improved their workforce availability significantly. #Preventive health –Despite having one of the highest average life expectancies of 84 years, an average Singaporean suffers 10 years of ill health before death. Preventive health requires comprehensive interventions and incentive programs at multiple levels, from government and payors. Industry veterans acknowledged that data and technology will play a key role in directing the programs to the right population cohorts and in measuring the effectiveness of these programs. #healthcaredata #virtualcare #AI #GenAI #patientexperience #preventivehealth #healthcareworkforce

AI & HealthCare: Navigating the Need for Regulations to Keep Pace with Innovation The UAE's progress in developing AI projects and startups stands out remarkably, as does the swift pace of its economic implementation. On Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, significant insights emerged from the roundtables held on the 50th anniversary of Swiss-UAE Diplomatic Relations. It was agreed that the top priority is enhancing healthcare for the population. The application of AI technologies in the evolving Medi 5.0 landscape should not be hindered by outdated regulations. The roundtable was truly impressive, showcasing how the UAE is transforming investments and innovations into substantial improvements. Tino Senoner   A major AI project in healthcare is scheduled to be presented in Zürich, Switzerland, from 18:00 to 20:00 on March 12th.
