Join us in celebrating our beautiful environment! 🌱🌏 Today, we aim to raise awareness about the environment and how to protect our planet for the years to come. This years theme theme presents itself as #GenerationRestoration. We cannot turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and bring back soils. We are the generation that can make peace with land. We're contributing through our Plant A Tree program, where every $5 donated plants a native tree. Additionally, our Carbon Farming Program focuses on educating Australians about carbon farming, supporting the development and implementation of carbon-related projects, and building a network of like-minded individuals across the state. After all, like our Elders say: 'If you look after Country, Country will look after you'. Discover how you can be part of this restoration effort by joining us today. https://lnkd.in/gY7g-ej7

On 27th October 2009, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) rejected the approval of the Ihithe-Ndunyu-Njeru road project, citing significant impacts on the forest. In its letter to the Ministry of Roads, NEMA stated: “The Authority is unable to issue an environmental impact assessment license for the project. You are advised to redesign your plans to explore alternative sites.” Yet, recently, NEMA made a sudden turn, allowing for the construction of this controversial road. This decision goes against objections from the Kenya Forest Service and Kenya Wildlife Service, the custodians of the affected site. What changed? Why are we risking the destruction of the Aberdare ecosystem? Let's hold our authorities accountable and push for sustainable development. Join us in asking the tough questions. 🎥 K24 #WhatHappened #SupportAberdareRoadAlternative #CancelNEMALicence #SaveTheAberdares #AberdareYetu #SustainableDevelopment Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust

GivingTuesday is here! For the next 24 hours, we’re raising funds for Indigenous communities in Indonesia to secure their forests and combat deforestation. ✨For today only, GlobalGiving will match your donation and they have $1.2 Million to give away✨ That means your gift, will be doubled! And why should you give? Because when Indigenous peoples' and local communities' land rights are secured, forests stay standing, more carbon is stored, combatting climate change, endangered wildlife is protected, and communities gain vital land security. Yet, so many communities still do not have the fundamental right to their ancestral home. 🌳 This year, we are helping 5 communities secure rights to 68,650 acres, taking the total to 247,000 acres of community-stewarded and protected land. We have already helped 3 communities on their path, but we want to support 2 more communities in this critical area. Help us raise $10,000 this week! Just $50 will help communities map boundaries to secure land rights.

We are thrilled to report that 100,000 people have signed the #Nature2030 campaign petition, adding their voices with more than 100 charities to demand action for nature from politicians. Together, we are demanding all Party leaders commit to crucial policies for nature’s recovery by 2030. If the next Parliament put the 5 Nature 2030 policies into practice, the UK would have a real chance to halt and reverse wildlife decline: -Double funding for nature-friendly farming -Make polluters pay -More space for nature by 2030 -Support green jobs -A human right to a healthy environment Politicians must turn the tide for nature at this general election and vague promises won’t do – we need bold commitments to protect and recover nature by 2030. Big News! We are partnering with Taking Root to launch the first certified carbon project in the Plant With Purpose community. While we’ve been documenting the increased tree cover across entire landscapes for 40 years, we’ve been a little slow to the party on turning this into a formal carbon project. Why were we slow? Partnerships take time. Plant With Purpose isn’t one top-down organization. We’re a Global Partnership of independent, local organizations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. This structure is part of why we’re so good at getting community buy-in and grassroots change. But real partnerships need time. Taking Root understands this. We have been working with smallholder famers to regenerate (and reforest) their land for 40 years now. In that time, we’ve tried a lot of things that worked and some that didn’t. We’ve noticed that many of the standards written to guide high quality carbon projects incentivize actions that we’ve often seen to not work that well. We want to run a high-quality carbon project that works just as well (or better) than our standard methods. We’ve seen that Taking Root also understands this and can help us launch a high-quality project. In the end, we know that reversing deforestation and replenishing watersheds can be one of the most effective ways to reverse rural poverty. This is especially true in places where people are farming steep hillside farms in regions where extreme poverty rates are high. Our model of Community Designed Restoration applied within a watershed cuts poverty rates in half while sustainably increasing tree cover.
The world’s forests are disappearing at an alarming rate, and efforts to restore them need to move faster. To address this urgent global challenge, Taking Root has formed a strategic partnership with US nonprofit Plant With Purpose aimed at accelerating the restoration of the world’s forests while improving smallholder farmer livelihoods. “By combining our unique strengths and resources, Taking Root and Plant With Purpose are poised to drive meaningful change and restore forests at scale in partnership with smallholder farmers,” said Taking Root’s CEO, Kahlil Baker PhD. 🌊 Time to Save Our Ocean! 🦅 Our oceans are in danger, and we need your support. Less than 0.5% of New Zealand's vast ocean territory is protected, and our marine life is constantly threatened.
