A key pillar of IDLab 2.0 is addressing the lack of digital identity and credential talent in our labour force. Best practices are still emerging, and it can be challenging to know where your gaps are as an organization to start a digital identity or credential program. As a neutral non-profit with a breadth of knowledge and a broad collaborator and member network, we are in a unique position to help with those very first steps. Digital identity is rife with malinformation and disinformation. On top of that, in a context where the general lack of qualified resources in IT is acutely felt by many companies, the scarcity of qualified resources in digital credentials is even much higher. This is why, at IDLab, we make a priority of helping Canada to develop a qualified workforce in digital credentials. See more below on how we do this! #IDLab #WorkforceDevelopment #DigitalCredentials #DigitalIdentity

Very interesting: "Financial institutions should not view all NPOs as high risk (...) Either because of the absence of a government-led risk assessment or due to insufficient risk differentiation by financial institutions or DNFBPs themselves, cases have been reported of all NPOs being assessed as high-risk customers to which enhanced CDD needs to be applied. This is not in line with the risk-based approach and leads to an unnecessary compliance burden for financial institutions and DNFBPs and negatively impacts the access to financial services by NPOs. (...) A concern in non-profit work are requests to NPOs to screen the identities of the recipients of their assistance and provide identity information to financial institutions, donors or other entities. This could prevent philanthropic and humanitarian actors from operating in accordance with humanitarian principles, such as neutrality and impartiality, and that may be incompatible with international humanitarian law. It may not only negatively impact the neutrality of humanitarian NPOs and the safety of their staff, infrastructure and beneficiaries, but also exclude people in need from receiving humanitarian assistance" (...).

Campaign Story Show less Young people represent around one fifth of the world’s population, but half of the total unemployed global workforce. Youth, defined as persons between 15 and 24 years of age, comprise some 89 million of the total of 192 million people out of work in 2005. Recent ILO data suggest that over a quarter of all youth in Sub-Saharan Africa, a third of all youth in Central and Eastern Europe, and roughly one in seven youth in developed countries are neither in education nor in employment. Globalization and rapid technological development have given rise to increased labour mobility, bringing new employment opportunities as well as new uncertainties. There has also been an increase in part-time, casual and other forms of atypical employment. As new entrants to the labour market, young people experience the effects of all these changes Lugarawa youth foundation wants to empower youth youth in microloans so that loans can be used to create small business in their local areas , As a foundation we have already a plan for youth empowerment.

Why is the non-profit sector so important in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing ? Last year, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) conducted a consultative process ahead of the update of its best practices on combating the terrorist financing abuse of non-profit organisations. This update aimed to best protect non-profit organisations from being misused for illicit purposes, without discouraging legitimate activities. In November , the FATF published the updated best practices paper, reflecting the amendments to Recommendation 8 👉🏼 https://buff.ly/47yhhqQ Through its technical assistance activities, the #EUGlobalFacility supports partner states around the world to strengthen their compliance with FATF Rec 8. This year, the project has helped #Argentina 🇦🇷, #Botswana 🇧🇼, #Jamaica 🇯🇲, #Jordan 🇯🇴 , #Malawi 🇲🇼, #TrinidadandTobago 🇹🇹, #Seychelles 🇸🇨, #SouthAfrica 🇿🇦, #Turkiye 🇹🇷 and #Zambia 🇿🇲 in this regard. The tangible impact of this work has been evident in the statistics pertaining to re-rated or soon-to-be re-rated jurisdictions regarding their compliance with FATF Rec 8 and IO 10. The project's distinctive methodology, which fosters collaboration between authorities/regulators and NPOs, in close collaboration with Global NPO Coalition on FATF, has yielded great results, with a number of jurisdictions having improved their compliance rating on FATF Rec 8 and Immediate Outcome 10. 🚨 FATF: Strengthening the Integrity of Non-Profit Organizations I am thrilled to share that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has recently published a significant report following its #October2023Plenary. This report focuses on strengthening the resilience of #nonprofitorganizations (#NPOs) against the risks of #terroristfinancing, a subject crucial to maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the non-profit sector. Highlights: 1. Amendments to #Recommendation8: These changes are specifically designed to protect NPOs from being misused for terrorist financing. It is vital to note that these amendments apply only to a subset of NPOs that meet the FATF's definition. 2. #RiskBasedApproach: Countries are urged to identify organizations within this scope, assess potential abuse #risks, and implement focused measures to mitigate these risks. 3. #BestPractices and #BadPractices: In a pioneering move, the #FATF has not only updated its Best Practices to reflect these amendments but also included examples of 'bad practices' to avoid. This approach provides clarity on implementing measures that are proportionate to the assessed risks without imposing undue burdens on legitimate NPO activities. As professionals in #compliance sectors, we must understand and implement these best practices. It's essential to support the non-profit sector in its crucial role in aiding those in need, especially in challenging circumstances, while safeguarding it from exploitation for #illicitpurposes.
