Among the headlines, 95% of staff recommend Your Healthcare as a GREAT place to work and 98% are proud of the services we provide. 97% say Your Healthcare offers a safe and inclusive environment with the same number saying they ENJOY their job. An impressive 99% of staff say “I know what I need to do to be successful in my job”. Congratulations to our neurodevelopmental team whose Project 2020 peer-reviewed paper has been published in the Nursing Times, reflecting Your Healthcare’s commitment to innovation in healthcare. The paper, titled ‘adults with learning disabilities’ use of health promotion,’ is a study investigating the uptake of health promotion initiatives among people with learning disabilities. Today we celebrate Employee Appreciation Day, taking some time show our gratitude to all the members of staff who work with Your Healthcare, providing care and support to our community 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So proud to win the Kingston Chamber of Commerce for Best Health and Wellbeing Provider - recognised for preventing costly hospital care by treating patients in the community, and as a social enterprise, having the freedom to adopt new and progressive ways of working.

Who are our reablement team, and what do they do? Our reablement practitioners and enablers, work within the community to help individuals regain independence after a period of illness. They visit people with the potential to recover and become independent again. They have a unique and highly skilled role in empowering people back to wellness. Instead of doing things for individuals, they use their expertise to guide them to independence. Reablement Practitioners set realistic goals in conjunction with the service user. We are pleased to announce that our Neurodevelopmental service (NdS) team won a national award. The team’s Bowel Support Service won the Continence Promotion and Care category of the 2023 Nursing Times Awards.   The judges praised the team commented that the service helps users and carers to understand and better manage constipation, with the ultimate goal of avoiding hospital admission.   Dr Karen Long, frontline service lead, said: “This is a fantastic achievement; our team was on a shortlist of ten, most of whom were much larger organisations. To be praised for our patient-centred approach – while not surprising for a team that genuinely has a deep understanding of the needs of its users, is both rewarding and well deserved. I am absolutely thrilled to see the team recognised in this way.”   Ed Montgomery, managing director, added: “This is a really impressive achievement. For me, the fact that the judges noted that the service was created, led and delivered by nurses is incredibly important. We know the Your Healthcare approach of giving teams the devolved responsibility to manage their own services is unusual in health and social care – but we also know it works for us. This award is a great example of how it works in practice.
