As a recruiter in the quantitative trading space, I have had the chance to speak with graduates from different backgrounds who are eager to kickstart their career as a quantitative researcher – including individuals who love machine learning (ML). Whether they’ve been given some less-than-accurate information from their university peers, or they’ve had a bad experience with an interview process – many graduates hold some misconceptions about how their interests will appeal to employers. Some people think that in becoming a quantitative researcher, they will have to put aside their passion for ML… The truth is - firms are actively looking for individuals who have strong quantitative degrees and are interested in ML to join them as junior quant researchers. In fact, many (if not all) of the quant researcher roles we are working with involve applying ML methods to research, develop and implement trading strategies. There are many advantages that ML can bring to the world of systematic and algorithmic trading. These methods offer the capability to analyse extensive datasets, unveil intricate patterns, and adjust to dynamic market conditions. When it comes to developing non-classical techniques in systematic strategies, ML is one of the main vehicles of revolutionising future trading practices. So for firms that are innovation and technologically driven – a quantitative researcher who has an interest in ML is a great addition to their team! Our clients are actively looking for 2024 or 2025 graduates from top global universities who are passionate about ML to join their team as quant researchers. If you think this sounds like you, feel free to drop me a message. #quantitativefinance #quantfinance #quantresearch #quantitativeresearch #machinelearning #graduateopportunities #systematictrading

Software Engineer | Machine and Reinforced Leaning (ML, RL) and Multi Arm Bandit (MAB) Enthusiast | Investor
Say you wanted to implement Reinforced Learning, but you can only hire 1 person. Would you hire a Data Scientist with RL experience, and enough software dev experience such that you can invest in their Software Development skills? Or, would you hire seasoned Software Developer with a mathematical background, and invest in the DS? Assuming there is not a unicorn that walks up to you, and who is a expert in both 😀 Meaning, of all of your candidates, almost all will probably be strong in one and weak in the other. Thx b #reinforcementlearning #datascientist

I've been working on extracting the top skills listed in the roles Job Journal finds. It's taken more time than I wanted but eventually I'll be able to turn this truly unique dataset into insights. My aim is to answer the questions: What skills are these companies hiring for? How can I get/maintain those skills? While I work on the report, it's been hard at work finding some epic roles. We're at 112 active subscribers with an open rate of 40-50% DAILY, so it must be doing something right. Here are a few notable roles from the last few days: 1️⃣ [Today] Applied Scientist IV at Belcan in Seattle, WA: https://lnkd.in/eYB9mjkX 2️⃣ [Yesterday] Machine Learning Scientist at JPMorgan in New York, NY: https://lnkd.in/ed8ssqaJ 3️⃣ [3 Days Ago] Senior MLE at Bumble in London: https://lnkd.in/eDUcw2zr If you're looking for jobs that require recommender systems experience, look no further: https://lnkd.in/g6SKFJMe #recommendersystems #jobs
