Beach or mountains?
More and more people are opting for a third option: WINE TOURISM 🍷
Today, almost in a summer mood☀️, I’m sharing some figures and the profile of the wine tourist in Spain, revealed by the latest ACEVIN report on this topic.
🌍 Spain currently has the largest vineyard area on the planet and boasts 37 certified wine routes spread across the country.
Since 2014, the annual number of visitors to the wineries and museums of Spain’s Wine Routes has not fallen below 2 million.
According to the study, in 2022 the 3 routes with the highest number of visitors were:
🥇1. Marco de Jerez: 333,781 visitors.
🥈2. Ribera del Duero: 281,918 visitors.
🥉3. Rioja Alta: 213,974 visitors.
Domestic tourism remains predominant at 80%, but international tourism has increased by 5% compared to the previous year, reaching 20%.
Among these international visitors, the most successful Spanish wine routes are:
🍇 Gran Canaria: 66.5%
🍇 Alicante: 41.5%
🍇 Penedès: 38.5%
