Happy International Women’s Day from Wilson Sporting Goods Co.! Today, we celebrate and recognize the numerous achievements and contributions of women across the globe. At Wilson, we’re proud to have strong, talented women driving innovation and success in our organization. They inspire us every day to push our limits and redefine what’s possible in the world of sports. We asked women in WE!, our women’s empowerment group at Wilson, to write a postcard to their younger selves. Here’s what they said: “Don’t compare yourself to anyone … ever! Walk confidently in what you believe. Be kind to everyone. Most importantly…Be yourself… the role of someone else is already taken.” – Cynthia Shipper, National Account Manager “It's not just you that's scared to try something new. Everyone around you is feeling the same way. So go for it. Be the first one. Why not you?” – Kari Palmer, Digital Platform Manager “You may never realize how many past moments you've impacted someone just by being the only you. So move forward into all of the todays and tomorrows with grace for yourself. You've been created for a purpose.” – Kimberly Tsui Fong, Graphic Design – Global Product “Don't be afraid to do something you want to do that may make you look stupid. No one is actually watching, or they are impressed you had the guts to try. Go big and have fun.” – Erin Pelton, Retail Store Director “Not everything you plan will work out as expected, but the journey to becoming who you are meant to be can be quite beautiful. Let your values and purpose guide you, but never be afraid to learn from people, experiences, and opportunities along the way.” – Diana Camarillo, Operations Analyst “You are exactly where you’re meant to be, right here and right now. You might not think that now, but looking back you’ll realize that each moment, each struggle, and each win were part of your journey to becoming your true self.” – Rachel Perry, Team Member Experience Manager and P&C Partner “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and beautiful at the end. It’s hard to make a change at first, but believe in yourself, stay true to your values, and know that you can do anything you set your mind to.” – Heather Mixon, Project Engineer “Avoid expending energy complaining. Instead, put your energy into appreciating what you have, where you are and building others up.” – Elizabeth Rogers, Digital Asset Management Specialist “All we can be is better than yesterday, and not as good as tomorrow.” – Nikki DeLaCruz, Global Sustainability Director “Believe in yourself today and every day, be proud of who you are and who you are becoming - don't let anyone tell you differently. Self-confidence is the BEST outfit, rock it and own it!” – Jen Deegan, Omni-Channel Strategy & Operations Director Here’s to continuing to empower women in the workplace and beyond. 🌟 #IWD2024

Par for the Course: How a 70% Male Golf Tournament Attendance Drives My Point about the Direct Link Between Gender Promotion Disparities and Calendar Management ⛳📅💪 Now we're ready to tee off on this topic! 😠 Let's revisit that summer when I, a self-proclaimed non-golfer (High School PE golf doesn't count, right?), decided to dive headfirst into a women's golf tournament. I'm still not even sure I like playing golf, but that's beside the point. I gladly sponsored water at each hole for the event and geared up for some golfing adventures. And guess what? I walked away with a shiny trophy for the longest drive among the ladies (still bragging to anyone who will listen)! Now, here's where it gets interesting: This event was organized by a WOMEN'S NETWORK, that aims to improve the success and level the playing field for women in tech and telecom, but wait for it, 70% of the attendees were men, and only 30% were women! What on earth does this say about our calendar management skills? Why do men seem to understand it better? Why aren't more female leaders seizing the opportunity to set an example for the next generation of female leaders and encouraging their participation in such events? Frankly, it has me teed off! It's like a constant reminder of how we, as female leaders, need to step up and make our presence known in all aspects of life. This is about so much more than golf; it's about how we approach our calendars and our careers. There's so much more to life than tedious tasks and endless meetings, and I want to help you figure this out before you waste any more time or get passed up for one more freakin' promotion. Let's throw in a few more eye-opening 2023 statistics that are even more infuriating: -Only 1 in 4 C-suite leaders is a woman -Just 1 in 20 is a woman of color -For every 100 men who are promoted from entry-level roles to manager positions, only 87 women are promoted THERE IS A CONNECTION, LADIES, and we've got work to do. While you were working on a task that could have waited until the next day: new relationships were being forged in a fun environment, job opportunities were discussed, networking was in full swing, visibility opportunities were everywhere...there was so much more value to those couple of hours than "just a game of golf". This is precisely why I emphasize calendar management as one of the primary pillars of my coaching program. We may not all be golf pros, but we can be pros at strategic calendar management. So, let's tee off, drive our careers forward, and shatter those ridiculous stats! 🏌️♀️ Who's with me? If you just realized that you've missed an important opportunity(or 10) due to your lack of strategic calendar management and know that it's standing between you and your career goals, send me a message and let's talk about we can correct the problem. P.S. Kudos to the men who show up as our allies every time! #WomensLeadership #CalendarManagement #GenderPromotionGap

Ok, so this guy is clearly a bigot. But what I want to talk about is Lululemon’s efforts to distance itself from him and his ideology, and how the lack of a critical lens in those efforts means they remain on the same continuum. Creating a DEI committee is a bare minimum action, one that is easily undermined when nothing else about the organization changes. I don’t believe this is because people are malicious—I believe it’s because we have very strong ideas about the “right” way to do business, stories told by generations of mostly white men about how to be successful, and that limited perspective has limited our imagination. Shifting your mindset to inclusion requires you to imagine new ways of defining success and of achieving it. More in the comments.

The "career forward" mindset. An interesting interview with Grace Puma on empowering women to take ownership of their career journeys, position themselves strategically for advancement, and invest in their well-being to maximize professional and personal fulfillment. "Acknowledge the challenge but don’t let emotions cause distractions. Focus on maintaining your high performance. Show them what you can do. Stay visible and engaged. Advocate for yourself. Don’t leave it to others to dictate what will happen to you in the work environment". Core values are your values. The wheels always come off the bus when you choose #marketing #corevalues that aren't in alignment with the leader of the company or the company actions. When a client tells me that marketing created their core values for them, my first thought is always "are they REALLY *your* core values if someone tells you what they are?" Last week we talked about Kyte Baby and how their website-only values of "family" were outed as window dressing. The CEO fired an employee who requested to work remotely from the NICU when her child was born 21 weeks premature. This week, we're going back in time to talk about the lululemon "we believe in empowering women so long as they are under a size 12" scandal. It's a long blog post, but an important one that touches on the following thoughts: You can choose "fake" core values and ensure you reserve marketing dollars for reputation management when they're outed as fake - and they always are. You can try to change your corporate culture to match up with the values that marketing has handed you - but culture runs top-down. You're not going to turn the CEO into a diversity champion from a body-shaming elitist. You can choose values that the company CAN support, from the top down. Lululemon had a lot going for them. They didn't need to focus on inclusivity as a value - especially knowing that the leader of the business built the business with a TCP that was decidedly NOT inclusive (rich and thin). It's okay to be the brand you want to be - authentic elitist is better than fake diversity champion. https://lnkd.in/gAaS7rdV

Celebrating all month long for #WomensHerstoryMonth and today we share insights from one of Team RISE’s very own, Lola Tsai Small, who will always tell you that she never intended to work in the world of sports! So now that she is here, what are her top tips for other women aspiring to be, or growing within, the sports business industry, and what impact does she hope to make by being here. Hear it from her own words: ….. Growing up as a girl in Asia, having the opportunity to learn and participate in sports is nearly non-existent. My sisters and I were very lucky that my parents learned tennis as we moved to North America and that became our family sport. I played on my high school team, which was one of the best experiences of my life, but sadly my John McEnroe temper cut my tennis career short! Now married to a sports fanatic with 25+ years in the sports business and having an incredibly athletic son, I get to channel my love and passion for sports at this phase of my life through building with my husband Shawn Small + Team RISE. It is a gift and privilege to combine passion with business and I would love to see more women, especially women of color, as thriving leaders in this space. Here are four favourite tips: 1️⃣ YOUR UNIQUE TALENTS + PASSIONS ARE YOUR SECRET WEAPONS: Regardless of what industry you started from or what you aspire to do or be - your personal strengths and the things that excite you are your superpowers. Lean into them and let them guide you to your success and impact. 2️⃣ SHARE YOUR AUTHENTIC VOICE: Resist the pressure to be conventional and focus on listening within to what you know to be true and share THAT voice. Only you can create content from your point of view - that’s your gift to the world. 3️⃣ CREATE, CREATE, CREATE: Whether you are in a role at an organization or you have your own business as an entrepreneur, harness the infinite power of your creativity. Our ability to create is our path to abundance. 4️⃣ GROWTH MINDSET, ALWAYS: It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro - keep a growth mindset always and focus on expansion, collaboration, and RISING TOGETHER. There is more than enough for everyone to succeed. ….. Share this with someone who may need it and give a shout out to a woman in sports by tagging them below 👇🏽 #WomenInSports #WomenLeaders #FeminineLeadership #WomensEmpowerment #WomensHistoryMonth Suzanne Duncan Justin Senior Raffy Fermin Haspreet Singh Hooda

Senior Recruitment Resourcer- Accounting and Finance. Connecting opportunities within your reach. 🤝 Let's connect? 👩💻
🏃♀️ "Allyson Felix is an eleven-time Olympic medalist and five-time Olympic champion, but most recently she has found her passions off the track. She’s the co-founder and president of Saysh, a community-centered lifestyle brand for and by women, as well as an investor and advisor to other startups." 👉 She is one of the female TED speakers that sheds light on the challenges faced by athletes who become pregnant while pursuing their careers, recounting her own fear of revealing her impending motherhood due to the potential repercussions from sponsors. She highlights the unfair treatment often experienced by pregnant athletes in terms of sponsorship and compensation, based on her personal experiences and observations. 👉 Discovering the impact Nike had on her professional journey, she bravely confronted her fears and embarked on a path to shape an exceptional destiny. In doing so, she became a powerful role model for her child and women everywhere, fearlessly living life on her own terms. ▶ Just like in the world of accounting, women are making significant strides and demanding equal opportunities for career advancement. Despite their efforts, the profession still grapples with obstacles like gender bias, restricted growth prospects, and a lack of representation in top-level positions. ▶ Embracing diversity in the workforce is crucial for driving innovation and achieving success. When companies open their doors to women in accounting positions, they gain access to a wider array of viewpoints, resulting in improved decision-making and enhanced creativity. ▶ But regardless of gender, individuals have the opportunity to pursue a wide range of roles in the finance and accounting industry, including accountants, auditors, financial analysts, and financial managers. This merit-based system not only allows women to advance in their careers but also empowers them to overcome obstacles and make significant contributions to the field. ✅ Allyson's speech left me with a valuable lesson: it's crucial not to remain in a situation where respect is no longer given, you don't have to accept the things you are not fine with, take a stand that you start to understand how to overcome that fear and how to make a change for yourself even if you are afraid, do it. Find a new job, or a new role because you have unlimited potential that you want to fulfill. 📩 If you are in search of an accounting job in Australia, send me your cv and message me at mmariano@leadgrp.com.au and I can help you in the first step of fulfilling your professional aspirations. 👉 Watch Allyson's Ted Talks at: https://lnkd.in/gSKRuvC9 #peoplefirst #leadgroup #womenempowerment #allysonfelix #tedtalks #accountingjobs #australia

Meet the Board! Each month, members of the JLM Board will be highlighted. To kick off the introductions, meet JLM President, Erin Donegan. 1. Why did you join the league? I joined the League because I was looking to meet like-minded women with similar goals of helping the Greater MKE community. 2. What are your goals for the league as president this year? Beyond ensuring financial stability, my number one priority this year is Member Experience. The world has gone through an immense amount of change over the last 3.5 years, and the fact that our members choose to spend their time with the JLM is so important to me. My hope is that we can provide a meaningful and fulfilling experience to each member no matter what their WHY is. 3. Favorite league memory? The Junior League 2023 Annual Conference is a core memory for me. Just a few weeks before my transition from President-Elect to President, I had the incredible opportunity to represent our 107-year-old League among hundreds of other League leaders. It reminded me of the Junior League's global reach and the magnitude of the work being done every day in our communities. 4. How do you find the good through your work with the league this year? Each interaction I have with our members reminds me how much good is present in our League. We all come from different backgrounds, and this brings unique experiences to the League; together these life learnings help amplify the work we do in our communities. Every day, we're finding the Good in each other! 5. What do you do for work? As the Brand Management leader for Regal Rexnord, I provide direction to our four operating segments and ensure we present ourselves consistently across 60+ family brands. I strategize brand hierarchy to align with our go-to-market strategy for target industries and channels. I also oversee our copywriting and creative services teams. 6. What do you enjoy outside of work/league life? As a resident of the Yankee Hill area, I love taking walks through the city and Veteran's Park. Milwaukee has a fantastic food scene, so you can also find me sampling appetizers and a glass of wine at one of our many unique restaurants!

According to CHIEF, Women Need to Network to Achieve Power Whether fair or not, advancement to the top has always required an intangible human connection that seemingly got more important the higher you climbed. In a recent study commissioned by Chief, 80%+ of 751 surveyed women used networking to achieve board seats, C-Suite positions, and higher pay. And executive women engage with their networks more frequently than mid-management women. Learning from our networks can benefit our businesses as well. More than 70% have used networking to achieve organizational goals such as winning new business (85%), implementing new frameworks or models (84%), leading successful projects (82%), improving processes (76%), and saving money for their team or organization (74%). This study is a huge motivator for me. As I look back on my career, I was always too busy doing the work and raising a family to spend extra time networking; and hence, have lost track of many of my wonderful colleagues and connections. It is a huge regret and I encourage all women to make time for this essential part of career building and emotional support system. Furthermore, I invite past colleagues and mentors to reconnect with me. This fall, I become an empty nester and will have more time to connect. I would love to have a coffee, a glass of wine or a virtual catch up. Monica Bloom Wendi Carroll, Pharm D Lucy Chen Christine Lehtonen Wynn Burkett, PCC, MBA Gianna Jackson Suzanne Rumsey Stefanie Mandl, Ph.D.
