UK election 57 : 82 Looks like the two traditional parties in the UK won only 57% of the total votes, but got 82% of the seats. Labour got about 34% of the votes, but 62% of the seats. The Green Party got about 7% of the votes, but less than 1% of the seats. It seems that it is time to switch to proportional representation.

Prediction for tomorrow 2024 UK general election is as follows. We are 19 points ahead of the Tories. 650 seats up for grabs and 326 needed for a Majority. The Prediction is as follows. Labour - 382 Seats. Conservative - 191 Seats. Liberal Democrats - 36 Seats. Others - 41 Seats. Prediction tomorrow is a Labour Landslide of 114 Seats. However a 2% swing in these polls which is what usually happens and it will be between a 100 or 120 Seat Majority for Labour.

FPTP should be confined to the history books asap
Under Jeremy Corbyn Labour got 40% of the national vote but 30.4% of parliamentary seats Under Keir Starmer Labour got 35% of the national vote but 63.7% of parliamentary seats. The UK election system is broken. The case for reform has never been stronger. #UKElection2024

Election results highlight an issue in our current system... The disparity between the percentage of votes received and the corresponding number of seats won. Labour now has a substantial majority. It is crucial for them to use this advantage wisely, as the swing from the last election indicates that the public can change their stance dramatically when dissatisfied. Interesting few years ahead.

Without banging a drum for any party: Labour got 34% of the vote, but 63% of seats. Reform had the 3rd highest number of votes (4 million/14%), but 0.6% of seats (4). So Labour got just over twice (2.36) as many votes as Reform but more than 100x as many seats. Again, not making the case for either Labour or Reform: First Past the Post is not Representative. https://lnkd.in/ebRpcGeG

A not unsurprising election result from the UK. A very interesting and in many cases extremely positive set of policies being advocated by the new government. Not sure how they'll be funded though. The huge disparity between the percentage of seats won and actual votes each party received really does show the value and benefit of our proportional system. Labour 34% of vote vs. 412 seats or 63% Tories 24% of vote vs. 121 seats or 19% Lib Dems 12% of vote vs. 71 seats or 11% Reform 14% of vote vs. 4 seats or <1% Only benefit of the FPP system is that at least Nigel Farages party only won 4 seats.
What will Labour do in power and what was in its manifesto?
