#Coaches - how do your athletes and players manage "commitment moments?" What is a commitment moment? It's when the athlete's commitment to #training and effort is tested by a moment and an opportunity where an easier path is a possible choice. Example - 5 am - alarm goes - it's time to go to training . Is the level of the #commitment of the athlete GREATER THAN the resistance of the moment, e.g. nice and warm in bed, too early to get up etc. Example - 4 pm - time to go to football practice but there's a new game on XBOX that the player's social group are all playing and enjoying. Is the player's commitment GREATER THAN the resistance of the moment, e.g. playing with friends, hanging out at home online. A committed #athlete - when given the CHOICE of doing things the Easy Way or the Hard Way (i.e. the right way) will CHOOSE the Hard Way!! My question to you - can you #coach commitment? #waynegoldsmith #wgcoaching #coaching #commitment #easywayhardway #sportscoaching #sport @waynegoldsmith

Following up from last weeks post about what parents can ask their kids post game, here are a few questions athletes can ask themselves post game. The idea is to focus on growth, learning, and progress, and to recognize that mistakes will happen and are an important and necessary part of improvement. We are here when you're ready to make positive moves! https://lnkd.in/g9fZqnYt #mindfit #isyourmindfit #trainyourbrain #theworkoutwithin #mindset #mentalskillscoach #sportpsychology #postgame #reflection #athletes #parents #sports #mentalperformance #mentalperformancecoach

Consider this scenario - You're playing your favourite sport. It's the grandfinal and there's one minute left on the clock. Scores are even and every second counts. The ball's in your hands and the fate of the game is up to you. How do you handle the pressure? Some players will lose the plot, getting rattled and stressed. Others maintain composure and are calm, so can think clearly. Whilst we know everyone handles pressure differently we can sometimes forget that we have a choice and can train ourself to respond how we want to react. This is why through 'Think Set Go' I have participants focus on upcoming scenarios and how they WANT to feel. We then practise responding under pressure in a safe environment. #mindsetmatters #practisepressure #mindsetisachoice #mindsetworkshop #thinksetgo #athletes #students #coaches #teachers

Want to hear about the undefeated ammy that went 0-3 as a pro? I had been going back and forth with one of the newer pros on our Fight Team program for a few years on why they needed data driven coaching. They were undefeated as an amateur and it had gone to their head a little bit. They thought they could do it all on their own, and didn’t need any help. It wasn’t until they went 0-3 as a pro that they realized they should have taken their strength, conditioning, and nutrition more seriously a lot sooner. It crushes me when I talk to athletes with that kind of mindset because I know it’s just a matter of time before something breaks. You can't keep telling yourself: “I need more experience” “I need more time” “I’ll be ready when I go pro” I can understand why you might feel this way, but success in combat sports, whether you want to be a world champion, or just train injury free, is about being proactive, not reactive. Don't wait until it's too late to take control of your fight dreams! Combat sports are already hard enough to be successful in, why leave that success to chance? Repost from @coach.t.smith (Tanner Smith) 100% Intent Drives Adaptation @barbellmateofficial has helped me as a coach provide immediate feedback to my athletes. Therefore not only allowing them to see results, but also see themselves in real time making progress. The difference of intent with or without feedback is massive. And ensuring intent allows every rep to be just as important as the last one. High volume of low intent < low volume of high intent #sportsperformance #strengthtraining #speedtraining #jumptraining #basketballtraining #VBT

Manager at RealFITT Strength & Conditioning (Strength & Conditioning Coach and Accredited Exercise Physiologist)
As a young S&C coach, all you want to do is work with pro athletes. These days, the athletes I want to work with are the ones who show up no matter what, who work hard, who listen, who are fun to hang around with, who are nice to those around them… the level of sport they play at has nothing to do with it. #strengthandconditioning #strengthandconditioningcoach

Empowering Athletes and Coaches with Mental Skills & Healthy Phone Habits reach optimum performance. Athletes who can control their phone use are more successful and confident.
Developing a football player to reach their full potential takes 1000's of hours of the right training, don't get caught up in drills and skills. These 4 skills are mandatory for athletes to go beyond age 16 in football. Eric Erikson's stages of psychosocial development are important to incorporate here, athletes between 12-18 are looking for their sense of self and identity which if not established or discovered makes it harder with social media (telling them who they are) hinders their growth. Ultimately, their beast mode as an athlete is delayed. 1. Confidence does more for #athletes #development than #drills any day of the week. Build it. 2. #Resilience builds mentally strong athletes can go beast mode. 3. Good coaches set up healthy habits including phone use and social media use. The most common reason athletes can't perform is because of too much phone time. 4. Developing team Leadership means teaching athletes individually how to lead and to be emotionally intelligent player. Individual development and growth results in more effective cognitive function and success for all athletes. Freedom and Flow - Playing in the moment Our mind is a powerful tool. Our thoughts continually influence our feelings and direct our actions. In sport, controlling the mind is a constant battle. Mistakes can lead to negative thinking which if we allow, can quickly lead our actions in a downward spiral. We often hear ‘next play’, ‘next possession’ or ‘next ball’ in response to our mistakes, but how do we get back to being in the moment and how do we keep our minds on track? How do we keep our thoughts in present thinking and not future thinking? By staying focused and not losing the battle in our own heads. As part of my Athlete Mentoring Package I will help you to explore how to control your thoughts to allow you to play with freedom. Enquire now! https://lnkd.in/gykfm9aW
