Reflecting back on the past year, it has been a bumpy journey - both personally and professionally. The decision to embark a new journey leaving a huge part of my own identity was certainly not easy to take. Amidst the turbulence, I had a huge opportunity to conduct career counseling session for more than 1000 students through FNCCI's job fair. Between facilitating various sessions and searching for a space to start a new office, I came across a newfound challenge in my career. On a personal level, failing driver's license test initially to then finally overcoming it and buying a first four wheeler was definitely a big as well as proud step. Working three jobs to being on the verge of a breakdown, this year has indeed showed me a side of me that I wasn't myself aware of. I knew resiliency on a superficial level until I had to undergo the challenges myself. It's not a typical overcoming-the-challenge or a rags-to-riches story, but a continuous reminder for myself that challenges won't stop coming, and conquering them one step at a time is the way to go. I'm sure the new year comes with even more challenges, as well as even more opportunities. After all, at the end of the storm, there's a golden sky and the sweet silver song of a lark! #newyear #reflections #challenges #opportunities

So we were at the Northern Arizona University-The W. A. Franke College of Business career fair last week and had great conversations with a number of soon-to-graduate students, many of which included this question: Why pick a career in #insurance? Here are what we think are three great reasons: 1️⃣ Stability & Growth: The insurance industry has withstood the test of time and is constantly evolving. As the world changes, the need for insurance only grows, promising job security and ample advancement opportunities. 📈 2️⃣ Make a Difference: Help individuals, families, and businesses safeguard their most valuable assets. It's not just about policies; it's about giving people confidence to face whatever lies ahead. 🌍❤️ 3️⃣ Diverse Opportunities: From sales, service, claims, to operations – there's a role for everyone. Whether you love crunching numbers, strategizing, or interacting with people, there's a perfect fit for you. 🌐🔍 Dive into the world of insurance and unlock limitless possibilities! 🚀💼 #CareerMove #InsuranceIndustry

Today, I had the immense honor of being a guest speaker at the University of West London’s career fair. It was a truly exhilarating experience to share my life story, from my educational pursuits at UWL and King’s College London to the bold step of launching a business during the uncertain times of the pandemic, and embarking on an exciting journey as a financial analyst, marking the promising beginning of my career. 🗣️ During my talk, I highlighted several key principles: Goals as Your Guiding Star: In both academia and the professional world, goals are essential. They serve as our compass, directing us towards success and fulfillment. The Power of Planning and Structure: Meticulous planning and a well-defined structure breathe life into your goals. Without them, a goal remains a mere aspiration. Consistency and Repetition: These are the pillars of achievement. It is through persistent effort and unwavering dedication that goals are transformed into accomplishments. Self-Competition for Growth: Embrace healthy competition with yourself. This mindset fosters tremendous self-improvement and ignites an unrelenting drive to achieve greater heights. Never Give Up: The importance of perseverance cannot be overstated. As long as you maintain your effort and determination, true failure is never an option. Thank you to everyone who attended and to UWL for the invitation. It was truly inspiring to connect with the future leaders and innovators. #CareerFair #GuestSpeaker #NeverGiveUp #UWL #KingsCollegeLondon #Entrepreneurship #CareerJourney

Yes. Yes. I have become slightly obsessed with the NFL post Taylor & Kelce (but I am not the only one). However, working in Indian Sport for the last 15 years (Yes, and do not age me!) has exposed me to the Business side of the NFL. Sports Newsletters and American Websites have provided more and a lot more insight about the NFL - and it has been a fascinating learning experience that has been so awe inspiring. I want to know more and I want to see more because they are doing it so so well. This is just one of the examples of what they are getting right - building a platform to give their athletes a future to look forward to with dignity and respect. The professional athlete brings a lot to the boardroom table! What else could you expect from a Human Being who chases one goal constantly for years! They have built themselves to be focused, disciplined and so so resilient and they would be the perfect team player! Spaces for this are so essential for the Indian Athlete as well and I wish we could find a way to give them more than a 'coaches' job, or the 'Railways posting'. So much to learn and so much to think about what we can do and should be doing. Sport is collaborative and competitive - which is why it makes it so easy to want to learn from each other. (Also, welcome to the Chief's Kingdom. :))
Last Friday, the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) celebrated Super Bowl LVIII by hosting their 6th Annual Super Bowl Career Fair – providing NFL Legends with the opportunity to explore careers with 40 employers, update their professional headshots, and experience executive-led career panels from Visa, EA SPORTS, Fanatics, and Microsoft.

It's always interesting to speak to the next generation and engage them in a discussion about the wonderful world of Construction! While my main goal at these events is to hopefully find someone to join our team, I do my best to talk about the construction industry as a whole, highlighting the diversity within, the different trades and the variety of opportunities available. At this particular event, parents were guiding their kids through the area, some walking past construction related stations, and commenting "that's construction, keep walking". When I volunteered at another event with even younger minds, it was somewhat unnerving to hear the majority of children proclaiming they want to be YouTube influencers when they grow up. Talking to these middle school and high school students, they are constantly told that in order to have a good job with actual living wages, you need to go to a good college. If you do that, sure you will have student debt, but you will also have a good salary. These students have acquired a narrow view and perhaps some misconceptions about Construction. Now, I am in now way saying that college isn't good or in some cases necessary, especially as the majority of companies require a 4 year degree. What I am saying is that not everyone is ready for college, or want to go to college for whatever reason. So my thought would be, instead of pushing kids to go to college, teach them that there are other options, there are trade schools and other opportunities too. There are so many programs that high-schoolers can become educated in a trade during their HS career, earning credits and if desired, can graduate with a degree as well as a license and maybe even a job offer. Working in construction as a GC, we have a unique view of the different industries. Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC, Misc Metals and my favorite... Masonry -- all have need. These are not dying industries, these are industries that are alive and well and will forever be, but don't garner the interest of the young. And for those who know, being in the C-suite isn't the only career where you can make a 6-figure salary and have a vacation home. (--That's not me... I'm just saying) All that said, Construction is so much more than wearing boots, a safety vest and a hardhat. It takes management, accountants, human resources, public relations, IT, and a myriad of others. It takes the whole team with knowledge of the industry to run efficiently. Lets encourage the Youts (said in Joe Pesci's thick Jersey accent) the benefits and diversity of our industry!

Hello, LinkedIn Connections! I hope you all had a fantastic day. Today, I had the privilege of attending an interview with Kelvin Vi Luan Tran, the CFO at TD Bank, during the CPA Ontario career fair- Own Your Future. The interview was a treasure trove of wisdom and insights, and I'd like to share my key takeaways with you: -Self-Awareness Requires Action: It's not enough to simply be self-aware; taking meaningful action is essential. -Flexibility in Planning: Having a plan is crucial, but don't expect it to unfold exactly as you envision it. What truly matters is knowing the direction in which you want to go. -Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Whether a situation is challenging or favourable, approach it as an opportunity for growth. This experience was an invaluable lesson in professional development, and I'm excited to apply these insights to my journey. I extend my heartfelt Thanks to CPA Ontario and Access Employment for taking the lead in this extraordinary endeavour, facilitating meaningful connections with outstanding employers. A big Thank you to all the employers- MNP, EY, KPMG Canada, Nestlé, BMO, RBC, Scotiabank, TD, Business-National Bank of Canada, IPEX by Aliaxis, Maple Leaf Foods Inc, PepsiCo, Staples Canada, SEPHORA, Rogers Communications, Sunwing, Mattamy Homes and Indeed- for offering invaluable insights into their respective organizations. Let's keep learning and growing together! #CareerInsights #ProfessionalDevelopment #CPACareerFair #CPAOntario #AccessEmployment
