Jonathan Bell’s Post

Paramount Global has agreed to merge with Skydance, capping off a monthslong negotiation, in a deal that will see the Redstone family step away from control of the storied movie studio and media company. Revealing the new design during an investor's call, the logo blends the distinct brand identities to signify their union. The new design maintains many of Paramount's iconic logo features such as the mountain and star motif, replacing the classic cursive font with a more corporate, clean typeface to emulate the Skydance font. The result is pretty terrible if you ask me. #branding #logodesign

‘terrible’ is a compliment - this thing is a monstrosity

A bit more like a Toblerone candy bar label. Paramount's script is much more iconic/timeless than Skydance's font recognizability.

Surely this just reflects a revolving door of M&A activity. The new owners are simply leveraging the perceived and recognized equity in the logos until they divest the business on to the next aggregator / corporate raider.

They went from Mt. Everest to Matterhorn... And lost a few stars in the process. It's actually a logo signaling "downsizing"
