Great discoveries involve the cooperation of many minds. As true teamwork advocates, we recently witnessed another testament to its power during our latest sprint! 💥 In November, our Stockholm campus hummed with the energy of over 90 students united by a common brief and a singular client – Volvo Group, specifically Volvo Construction Equipment. This dynamic sprint involved three full-time programs - AI Business Consultant, Design Lead, and Content Developer, each contributing a spectrum of diverse expertise. 🎥 Today's video offers a comprehensive view of this collaborative project, featuring insights from Volvo representatives, our students, and Hyper Island's Learning Partnership Team. Dive into the experience! 🚜 The brief presented a nuanced challenge. With Volvo's accelerated adoption of carbon-free technologies, our students were tasked with crafting a solution to facilitate a smoother and more efficient process for customers navigating this transformative shift in the automotive landscape. The diverse backgrounds of our teams, spanning content creation, design, and AI integration, resulted in a wide array of outcomes. The final presentations showcased a spectrum of bold, tangible, creative, intelligent, and unique ideas. 💪 A special acknowledgment goes to Victoria Todorova, the driving force behind orchestrating this sprint from A to Z! Kudos for your hard work and unwavering dedication! 🤝 Our heartfelt thanks extend to all the Volvo representatives who invested their time in close collaboration with our students over these intense three days, maintaining open minds to the presented ideas. Special gratitude to Hans Lind, Albin Streipel, Vitoria M Moret, Johan Bachér, Peter Santén, and Karin Silvander! 👏 Last but certainly not least, we applaud all the students from the three programs involved in this project. Witnessing connections blossom between courses was inspiring, and the results mirrored this collaborative spirit! Curious about collaborating with our students? We did it.👏 Škoda Auto has defended its title and is once again 🏆#TOPemployer in the "Automotive & Engineering" category. I'm #happy that we are still one of the best #employers among university and high school #students. 🎓 The students who took part in the online questionnaire gave us valuable feedback and we're delighted to have been ranked #1 for the 13th year in a row. Thanks for your support.💚 But let's take a closer look at the survey. Let's find out what's behind Škoda Auto's first place. ⬇️ 🎓What did the students appreciate? ✅ Our modern working #facilities. ✅ The wide range of job #opportunities. ✅ Tailored focused personal or professional #development programs. 💻 How did the vote go? ✅ Students completed an online questionnaire supervised by a research agency. ✅ The survey was designed by social scientists and updated each year to reflect the latest #trends in student employment. I got rejected by Scania! How did that even happen? Well. It was close to new years in 2008. I was doing my Master Thesis at SAAB Automobile in Trollhättan. I had an idea of working for SAAB after graduation. All we Swedes know what happened. I was there when it happen, one day I came to work at SAAB R&D and my manager was gone, "He left, he starts at Volvo Aero immediately". I got the notice that NO WORK IS ALLOWED in the R&D labs. It came to a stand still and the grim reality lowered itself over the whole town like an angry dark gray cloud. AND it was murky and raining outside. My chances of working for SAAB was gone. "Well, I'll just pull the life line and take a job at Scania then". So I thought. I got to the first interview at Scania and after that got booked for the second one. Out of the blue I got noticed from HR at Scania that my interview was canceled due to "anställningsstopp" (hiring freeze). So there I there I was with no other back up plan. I had to start searching for jobs at other companies, many of whom I didn't even know what they were doing or at least I didn't really understand. I sent maybe 40 applications to consulting firms and product companies. Rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply, no reply and so on. Suddenly, with amazement, I stood there with two interested companies. I didn't really know anything about them. The two jobs were also vastly different, different roles, and different industries.... what choice to make?, I thought. The jobs were: Logistics Engineer at DAGAB, somewhere in Sörmland, more than an hours drive away, or 2 in total with public transport. AND Mechanical Design Engineer at Westinghouse Engineerings Services in Västerås, back then more than an hours drive away, or 2 in total with public transport. With all the experience I have now the choice looks obvious, but it wasn't then. The choice I made would take me down vastly different career paths and I didn't really know what I would enjoy more of the two. And whichever I chose I had to spend hours each day on just commuting to and from work. I made the choice. And got the consequences from it, both the enjoyable and the not so enjoyable. Westinghouse Engineering Services in Västerås. Mechanical design engineer and welding engineer in a group that designed new reactor internal parts and also service and repair projects for live reactor, and reactor internal parts in Swedish boiling water reactors. I did 2,5 years and got more experiences than I would have EVER imagined beforehand. ⚡ It was there that the spark that lit my burning interest for the consulting world would fly in my direction. I'll tell you more about the next part of the "Story of how and why I got into consulting" in another post. I wish you a great day and start of the year 2024 🍀

Dear #HR people of Linkedin 😎😊 , I might have a cheat code for you to get great, new talent "straight from the source" if you will and simultaneously support a great project. 💡 This Friday I attended the rollout of #fasttube 's new #eletric racecar, the FT24. The car is fully developed by students from many different universities here in Berlin (#TUBerlin, #BHT, #FUBerlin, etc.) and will compete in the biggest student competition in the world the #formulastudent. What these students create every year is simply astonishing... in house developed battery, hv-system, powertrain, suspension, frame and even their own model for autonomous driving. And look at the aero packet, it's getting crazier every year. ✈ 🚀 I was lucky enough to build three racecar with the team in 2016, 2017, 2018 and won't miss a rollout if in any way possible. Now, the struggle to get new, good people is known to everyone in the industry. The platforms and head hunters offering services to help you find #talent are numerous but they don't come cheap. #recruitment is big business. So before using these services just do a quick internet search for your local formula student team, ask for their smallest #sponsoring packet and post your open positions directly in the team. The #fasttube team has more than 100 team member and the team more or less changes every year. It could take a little longer for this “investment” to pay off, since the team members still need to build their car and finish their studies but it could create a steady stream of applicants! Simultaneously you enable the team to participate in the events and make sure they can buy a fresh set of tires (these are expensive!). In my opinion it is also not important how many trophies the team has and how many awards they won. I always found that the new teams just starting out, which might not be as competitive, had the team members with the most knowledge. They build everything from scratch and didn't have any PCB designs or CAD files to fall back on from the previous year. Are you already supporting your local formula student team? Do you think it's a good idea? 🤔 FaSTTUBe - Formula Student Team TU Berlin: By the way very cool "ready to race" sound. 😉

It's graduation season! Are you celebrating an accomplishment? Is someone you know? CONGRATULATIONS! Graduating is so satisfying, isn't it? You've finished all of those courses! I know every time I graduated I wanted to celebrate... with a long nap. Sometimes the weight being lifted is more exhausting than the weight itself! And then there's the question: "what's next?" Wherever you're going, we have a car for that! Take a look at this article highlighting the top 10 best cars for graduates, with the #NissanVersa making the list! If the Versa is a bit small for your post-graduate life, I promise our Nissan and INFINITI lineup has something that fits! #NissanEmployee #NissanProud

At Volvo Cars there is plenty going on all the time. And we are on the biggest transformation our company has ever experienced. There are so many actions taken within the company to be proud of. The leaps we are taking within new technology and how we build direct to consumer relations is all very impressive. And what sets us apart from many others is our human centricity in everything we do. It makes me immensely proud that our people, our employees feel empowered to always have the human approach in all that we do. Amidst this transformation many of our employees still find the time running projects in our local communities which are a triple win. We as the employer, the candidate and society are all winners when we find employees who are not initially identified as qualified for work. In the paper GP there was an article published last week that showcases just that. Pontus Berger, a Volvo Cars employee has always been passionate about finding solutions to our challenges in hiring talented and good people. Pontus initiative is a great example of what you as an employee can do at Volvo Cars, if you have an idea that is human centric, is of benefit to the business and is scalable, then you are empowered to take it further. My heart runneth over when I hear about stories like this one, where immigrants are seen as potentials to become some of our most dedicated employees. With smaller investments, such as completing a course in local language or similar, these individuals become successful candidates, people’s lives are changed and a brighter future is shaped as a consequence. On our transformation journey we need to hire lots of talents in Torslanda, to our existing plant and the new battery plant, as well at our plants in Slovakia and in Charleston in South Carolina, US. We welcome all people to apply to work for us. We believe in freedom to be. Diversity, inclusion and belonging makes us remain human centric and that is our competitive edge for the future. #LifeAtVolvoCars https://lnkd.in/dAPrY8zF (https://lnkd.in/dAPrY8zF)
