We ended our lunch on July 27th in silence. We still had 30 miles left until we reached Boya Lake (about 4 hours with our pace). I was pissed, Hope was pissed, and we were tired. Hard to believe we didn't expect this, but in reflection the bike became our spot to process. It was a no questions asked zone, scream/cry/be silent, and we would hold space for that. After leaving a shared processing zone, 10-minutes into our own, Hope stopped and shared she wanted to hitch hike to Boya. She wanted to respect my desire to bike our route, while also respecting her capacity, and that meant not biking the remaining miles. It took all of me to agree to compromise. In some ways I felt like we JUST had 30 more miles, and in other ways I felt like we JUST starting biking. It felt like we would be giving up. It felt like I could push more, so why couldn't Hope. It felt very conflicting. However, we are a team. And by that, it means that we help each other and understand (AND HEAR) when we are communicating the position we feel we are in. If Hope is at capacity, than I am at capacity. Because in reality, I'm not willing to do it alone. There is no BikeWyld without the two of us. Then we got a ride by a French couple and they were so happy to help. They didn't ask why we didn't prepare better, scold us for catching a ride, or question why we needed a ride if our bikes were fine. They instead were ecstatic to be apart of our journey (even this small part), to share their space, and made us burgers. Totally blew me out of the water. I judged myself so hard for asking for help when I didn't feel I deserved it, and they weren't phased the least by it. That's humanity folks. I did it! Yesterday I completed the BisonMTB bicycle rally route. Distance 60km. We know as much about ourselves as we have been tested, writes the Polish poet Wiesława Szymborska, the Polish Nobel laureate in literature. I know I can do it, I know that with a bit of luck I can do more. It only requires preparation, concentration, work and some equipment. A few months ago, the idea of participating in this event came up, I started preparations and cycling and endurance training. I've never participated in anything like this before. Sometimes you don't know what you are capable of, you have to check it, sometimes you are capable of achieving much more than you think. Get out of your comfort zone and try, take risks, put in hard work and effort, in the worst case it will turn out that at least you tried, you pushed your limits, next time it will be easier. In the best case scenario, you will overcome your own limitations and achieve satisfaction incomparable to anything else. It is you who will achieve this goal using your own will, work and effort. A few words about the race itself. Route: a beautiful, varied forest route in the Knyszyńska Forest, in some places leading through nature reserve areas. Forest paths, paved, sand, forest clearings, around the observation tower, surprisingly steep hills, impossible to overcome by bike, ultra-fast descents down the slope. Great respect for the organizers for developing the route and preparing it, despite the very difficult weather conditions prevailing in the region in recent days. Conditions on the route: relatively cold, max 8 degrees, strong wind almost tearing off roofs and breaking branches, dry, hail around 3 p.m. Equipment: 23-year-old Peugeot mountain bike, refreshed in fall 2021. Steel frame, no shock absorbers, V-brakes. New saddle. It managed, but this is not a route for such bikes, it certainly needs a worthy successor. Take a look at the clip and imagine that number of people arriving by car. There would be congestion, danger, tension and frustration. The air would be foul and people would retreat, scurrying into buildings or finding quieter streets. Shops would struggle and in many places building fronts would look down at heel. We know our town centres are in crisis. Moreover the journey to town would be horrendous: mired in stress and ending with a long search for parking in grotty, ugly car parks. People wouldn’t dream of walking or cycling because it’s just so unpleasant and dangerous. This street isn’t pedestrianised; it allows vehicles. But these vehicles are powered by people. And people on bikes are every bit as fascinating as people on foot. People watching is a basic human pleasure: just look at the new building on the corner with its big windows that allow its occupants to engage with the activity outside. People arriving from the suburbs on foot, tram, bus, train or bike enjoyed their journeys: people watching on the move. Streets become linear parks full of life, and chance meetings with friends happen constantly, resulting in waves, smiles and excited chatter. When people retire they cycle more than ever before. There’s no pollution, just the sound of chatter, bells and clanking pedals and chains. And yes, birdsong. The shops are probably all in business: the town centre is an attraction that’s far stronger than the internet. And in typical Dutch fashion the window displays will doubtless be beautifully designed to be seen and admired on foot or cycle, drawing customers inside. Now tell me you don’t want this in your city.

It took me 7 months to get a bicycle in the world capital of bicycles. As most of you know, the Netherlands is the country of bicycles. Cyclists are one of the first priorities on the streets. Children go to school by bicycle without any worry. People ride bicycles wherever they want to go. Parents ride bicycles with their young children in the back. Women ride bicycles alone without fear. The bicycle culture is so strong that parking cars or driving is almost an impossible mission. All this for two purposes: to protect your well-being and that of the planet. But, when you come from a "third world" country. This may sound like a fairy tale! But it is true, it is a purposeful lifestyle. So, your mind and behavior have to change. Here, life is on another level, and you must adapt. This applies for everything in our lives. Wherever we go, that place has their own rules, style, laws... You must understand, adapt and respect. If you don’t, simply, you don’t belong. ** P.S 1: There are more bicycles than people! The Netherlands accommodates 17 million inhabitants and 23 million bicycles. The fact is all of us do our best when it comes to building products which have an optimal mix of style quotient and utility quotient , but then sometimes it just clicks and how! A video going viral for sure means endless phone calls , queries and consequent sales but what has been more rewarding has been the fact that the Volton Booty has transcended boundaries and resonated with people from diverse backgrounds, uniting them in support of our endeavour. Dear bicycle enthusiasts, We are FOCUS Bikes, a company from Europe dedicated to the passion for bicycles. Here, people from different countries work together under one roof – like a big shared apartment. Sure, sometimes we argue about who didn't put away the dishes or who once again didn't put the shock pump back in the drawer. And sometimes we retreat to our home office when it gets too much. And the big fires that deeply shake us: the murder of a police officer in the middle of the city a few days ago, the situation in Gaza and the attack on Ukraine, the heat deaths on the other side of the planet. The list goes on and on. No, an election can't undo all of this. An election won't change the world overnight. An election can't bring back the dead. But an election does decide, to some extent, which direction we want to go from now on. We are Europe, and we have a choice – whether on a regional level like in some parts of Germany or in the EU Parliament. Please: use your vote. There isn't one perfect party or the only right people in politics, but there are definitely wrong ones. Nazis offer no solutions. Nazis want to divide. Nazis deny climate crisis.
