📣 Exciting News! METREX joins Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) project to accelerate the transition to a circular built environment ♻️ A circular economy is one of the primary goals of the EU Green Deal; promoting value maintenance and sustainable development by reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering materials throughout supply chains. 🌎 The ASSET project, which stands for ‘A Spatial Strategy for the Eurodelta, boosting a circular builT environment’, seeks to explore the spatial implications of a circular built environment (CBE) in the #Eurodelta. Circular built environments (CBEs) are designed to narrow, slow down, and close resource loops at different spatial-temporal levels by incorporating cultural, environmental, economic, and social values towards sustainable living. However, the spatial requirements – how much land and where it is located – of a CBE are still unknown. This 18-month project aims to discover what cities need to develop a spatial-economic strategy for the circular transition, and whether cooperation across regions can accelerate these efforts. 🌍 Reflecting on #TechSustain: Advancing Infrastructure Solutions for a Greener Tomorrow 🌍 Last March 20th in Madrid, we took part in an event focused on the future of sustainable construction. Hosted by Zacua Ventures, CEMEX Ventures, and Ferrovial, #TechSustain brought together some of the world's leading builders, suppliers, and innovators, including giants like ACCIONA, SACYR, Cemex, Hilti Group, CRH, and more. We were thrilled to contribute to these conversations. The event was structured around breakout sessions, where groups of atendees dove deep into specific topics critical to the industry's future, such as health and safety, the use of AI, new construction materials (including those created from C&D waste) and sustainability. Theses discussions were enlightening and also instrumental in forging pathways and connections to foster more sustainable construction practices and innovative solutions. It was inspiring to see the collective expertise and commitment to change from industry leaders and startups alike. The collaborative environment fostered by #TechSustain underscored the importance of joint efforts in overcoming the challenges we face in carbon emissions, resource consumption, and waste management in construction. The focus on trends like green building certifications, innovative materials, and digital twins highlighted the industry's readiness to embrace the future. We had the chance to meet a few interesting startups that are already pushing to be part in the transformation towards a more sustainable model. Strong by Form with a premium CLT that is not only great sustainable material but also beautiful. Or ecoLocked that creates functional, CO2-negative building material additives and helps the construction industry build with climate-friendly alternatives. As we reflect on the outcomes and insights gained from #TechSustain, we're reminded of the urgency and the immense potential for positive impact within this sector. Let's carry forward the momentum and continue to collaborate on solutions that lead us towards a greener, more sustainable tomorrow. How should the construction industry reduce its climate impact? How can the suppliers meet the climate requirements? Two of the main questions when Business Region Gothenburg recently hosted the event Living Lab with focus on climate neutral installations. Gothenburg City are to reduce the climate impact from all construction projects by 50% by 2025 and by 90% by 2030. To achieve this, they are looking for new products, materials and solutions that can contribute to reduced climate impact for all building components. Lindab were invited to talk about our ventilation offering in terms of circularity and not at least CO2-reduced steel. “It was great to share Lindab’s ideas for a circular concept where we at first hand focus on upgrading existing systems, second hand re-use products and lastly offer decarbonised products with high share of recycled content” Matilda Isaksson, Group Sustainability, concludes. #forabetterclimate #lindab #ventilation #indoorclimate #wecareforindoorair

According to Dr. Patrick Bergmann, Managing Director madaster germany, today’s circularly built properties are already achieving higher prices in rentals and sales than conventionally constructed buildings. 🇩🇪 In Germany, in the construction of its new district archive, the district of Viersen tested the circular economy concept, including the role of transparency, and the financial advantages of sustainability in construction.
