Did you know that for Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs), #fuel costs alone account for more than two thirds of the total #LifeCycleCosts? If rail operators in local and regional transport want to stay on the road to success, their vehicles have to run economically over as long a period as possible. With ZF’s Repowering solutions, fuel consumption and thus life cycle costs can be reduced, and the #service life of rail vehicles extended. But how does this work? “Repowering works by taking out only the transmission, replace it with a new one. All other driveline components stay in place,” explains Stephen Brew, Sales for Rail Drive Systems at ZF.
