We've been getting lots of questions about how Enersion's system is different from other HVAC solutions out there working to decarbonize commercial & industrial spaces.
We first want to give a shout-out to all those bringing these heating & cooling technologies to market -- thank you! We need as many great minds as we can get focusing on this problem because it's pretty big. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), between now and 2050,
🔥 Two-thirds of the world will need air conditioning to survive the coming heat waves -- and today, just 8% of those living in the hottest regions have access.
❄ That means cooling demand, already one of the biggest stresses on our electrical grids, could more than triple. Even if you don't spend your whole day nerding out about energy grids like we do, it's not hard to tell that's a huge burden, especially for emerging economies.
At Enersion, we decided to start from there: how do we reduce the burden on the world's energy grids and keep costs low while cutting the use of refrigerants?
🔑 Our solution does this by running on the waste heat produced from today's building energy systems. Instead of using refrigerants, we can use water + our own non-toxic material as refrigerant to create the cooling and heating effects of traditional HVAC units.
😊 This means we completely eliminate all the bad stuff that Local Law 97 and California want the world to get rid of. Oh -- and we can make our energy systems more efficient + circular, too.
🏆 Our early results show we could achieve a coefficient of performance (COP) of over 22, compared to traditional systems that measure in the range of 2 - 4. That's a big difference! We're testing in the field now with some awesome partners to validate.
